Tata Nexon CNG Showcased Alongside Nexon EV #Dark At Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024

Tata Motors showcased the upcoming Nexon CNG at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024 today. While the Nexon iCNG was showcased as a concept at the mobility show, it previews the production-spec CNG SUV that will go on sale in the coming months. Let’s take a look.

Tata Nexon CNG – All We Know So Far

The Tata Nexon iCNG shares its design with the Nexon petrol and diesel variants. However, what is unique about the Nexon CNG is it is the first turbocharged car to offer a CNG powertrain in India. When running on petrol, the 1.2L turbo engine produces 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. Expect these figures to dip slightly when powered by CNG. While the Nexon petrol is available with a 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed AMT and a 7-speed DCT, expect Tata Motors to limit the CNG variants to the 5,speed MT, 6-speed MT and AMT options.

Like the Tata Punch and Altroz CNG, the Nexon CNG gets Tata’s innovative twin CNG cylinder technology that uses twin 3-litre tanks to free up boot space. The Nexon CNG gets a few additional safety features as well, such as leakage-proof materials, micro switch, single advanced ECU, thermal incident protection, auto switch between fuels, direct start in CNG mode, leak detection and modular fuel filter.

Tata Nexon CNG Expected Price

Currently, Tata CNG cars like the Altroz CNG are priced at a premium of Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1 lakh over their corresponding petrol variants. Hence, we could expect the Tata Nexon CNG base variant to launch with a starting price of around Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Nexon EV #Dark Showcased

Tata Motors also showcased the upcoming Nexon EV Dark edition at the 2024 Bharat Mobitly Show. The pre-facelift Nexon EV introduced the Dark option with its Prime variant and the Max variant received this option a short while later. With the updated design of the Nexon EV, the Dark edition gives the electric SUV an even more menacing design. We expect Tata Motors to announce the price of the Nexon EV Dark in the coming weeks.
