Tata Nexon Achieves 6 Lakh Unit Production Milestone

  • The Tata Nexon was launched in September 2017 at an introductory price of Rs. 5.85 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • It achieved the 1 lakh sales milestone in July 2019
  • Tata gave the Nexon a facelift in 2020 with feature additions and Bharat Stage 6-compliant engines
  • In June 2021, the Nexon achieved the 2 lakh sales milestone
  • The 3 lakh sales milestone was achieved shortly after in February 2022
  • The 5 lakh sales milestone was achieved in April 2023
  • The Tata Nexon was the best selling utility vehicle in India in FY 2022
  • The Tata Nexon was launched with a 1.2L normal petrol engine that produces 110PS of power and 170Nm of torque. Transmission options included a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT
  • The Tata Nexon was also offered with a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine at launch. This engine produces 110PS of power and 260Nm of torque and was offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT
  • The 2024 Nexon petrol and diesel variants are currently priced between Rs. 8.10 lakh to Rs. 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • The Nexon EV is currently priced from Rs. 14.74 lakh to Rs. 19.94 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • The Tata Nexon competes with the Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, and Renault Kiger in the B2-SUV segment.

Tata Inaugurates New Gujarat Manufacturing Recently

In other news, Tata Motors have commenced production at its new Sanand manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The milestone was celebrated with the rollout of a Tata Nexon. The plant, acquired from Ford India, boasts advanced technology and automation across 4 main shops.

With a capacity of 3 lakh units per annum (scalable up to 4.2 lakh units), it marks Tata Motors' second plant in Gujarat, contributing to their growth plans in passenger and electric vehicles. The facility prioritises sustainability, with investments in upskilling, solar rooftop, and water-neutral practices. Over 1,000 jobs have been created, with plans for additional employment and water positivity by December 2024.
