Over the past few years, we have seen companies selling products ranging from mobile phones to TVs exclusively over the internet. Now it seems like BMW has taken a page out of their book as the carmaker has announced a limited edition model of the 2 Series Gran Coupe which will be sold exclusively through the brand’s online portal.
Christened the Black Shadow, only 25 units of the limited-run model will be manufactured and sold starting from 7 December 2020. It is based on the 2 Series Gran Coupe M Sport variant but gets some exclusive elements like the redesigned blacked-out M Performance kidney grille, blacked-out ORVMs, BMW floating hub caps, 18-inch M forged alloys, M performance rear spoiler and tailpipes in black chrome. BMW will offer the 2 Series GC Black Shadow in two colour option only: Black and White.
On the inside, the cabin remains unchanged. The feature list has also been untouched. It gets features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, auto LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone AC with rear AC vents, auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats and a parking camera. Safety features on offer include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, traction control and cruise control with braking function.
Under the hood, the things continue to remain unchanged. It gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 190PS and 400Nm mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It also gets multiple driving modes: ECOPRO, Comfort and Sport, and launch control.
Since the 2 Series Gran Coupe Black Shadow is a cosmetic job, it is priced at Rs 42.30 lakh (ex-showroom India). The 2 Series Gran Coupe currently has no direct rivals in India but Mercedes Benz is planning to launch the A-Class sedan and its bookings are already underway.
