Mercedes-Benz have launched the GLC Electric in India at Rs. 78.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric SUV comes in the GLC 400 4MATIC variant with AMG Line styling and a 94kWh battery. It offers 4-wheel drive and a claimed WLTP range of 711km. Locally assembled at Chakan, Pune, it joins the existing petrol and diesel GLC in the brand’s India lineup. Here’s a look at its price, range, charging capabilities and key features.

The GLC Electric joins the existing petrol and diesel variants, giving buyers 3 powertrain choices. Here’s how their ex-showroom prices compare:
Customer deliveries of the GLC Electric will begin by Diwali 2026.
The GLC Electric uses a dedicated electric platform and gets a motor on each axle for 4-wheel drive. Its battery and performance specifications are listed below:
The rear motor uses a 2-speed transmission. A shorter first gear supports acceleration, while the higher second gear helps with efficient highway cruising.
The GLC Electric uses an 800V electrical architecture and supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW.

Here are the GLC Electric’s charging specifications:

Buyers who don’t need the supplied 22kW wall charger can opt for 2,500kWh of public charging credits instead. These credits are valid for 2 years and accessible through the ‘MB.Charge Public’ program.
The GLC Electric gets a large illuminated grille, star-shaped lighting elements and 20-inch AMG Line alloy wheels.

Flush-fitting door handles and aluminium side steps complete the side profile.

Its wheelbase measures 2972mm, which is 84mm longer than the petrol and diesel GLC. Mercedes-Benz say the longer wheelbase contributes to additional passenger space. Here are the GLC Electric’s dimensions and capacities:
For luggage, the SUV offers a 570L boot and a separate 128L front storage compartment, or frunk.

Folding the rear seats expands boot space to 1740L. A powered tailgate provides easy access to the luggage area.

The India-spec GLC Electric comes with a tyre repair kit. A space-saver spare wheel is available as an accessory and takes up luggage space.
The GLC Electric’s equipment covers comfort, entertainment and driver assistance. Its key features include:

The glass roof stays fixed, while its transparency can be adjusted in separate sections. Its illuminated stars change colour with the cabin’s ambient lighting.

The India-spec SUV uses comfort suspension with selective damping and misses out on the air suspension and rear-wheel steering offered overseas.
The GLC Electric also gets a Terrain driving mode that adjusts the powertrain, steering and braking for dirt and gravel roads. Its ‘transparent bonnet’ function combines camera feeds to show the area beneath the front of the SUV on the touchscreen.
Buyers can choose from 6 exterior colours:
There are also 3 interior colour themes: black, brown and beige. The available interior theme depends on the exterior colour selected.
The upcoming BMW iX3, expected to arrive in India in 2027, will compete with the GLC Electric. Electric SUV alternatives already available here include the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase and Tesla Model Y range.
Here’s how their prices, dimensions and specifications compare:
*The Model Y L’s acceleration figure includes the complimentary Acceleration Boost upgrade.
The iX1 LWB’s MIDC range figure is not directly comparable with the WLTP figures of the other SUVs.
