Citroen C3 Production Begins In Brazil — India Launch This Year | V3Cars

Citroen have kickstarted production of the C3 in Brazil, ahead of the India launch in mid-2022. The upcoming C3 hatchback will be the first locally-produced Citroen in India and we expect the French carmaker to price it competitively.

The Citroen C3 is based on Stellantis’ Common Modular Platform (CMP). Citroen say they have focussed on offering space, comfort and affordability with the C3. The French carmaker is yet to reveal the powertrain details of the upcoming C3. As stated earlier, Citroen have commenced production of the C3 in Brazil from where it will also be exported to other South American markets.

The Citroen C3 measures 3.98 metres in length and gets a high-set bonnet and high ground clearance to give it the appeal of an SUV. Talking about its design, the C3 gets a two-slat grille upfront which merges with the arrow LED DRLs seamlessly. The lower part of the bumper gets halogen headlamps and round fog lights.

The C3’s interior layout has been designed to offer space and practicality. However, we do not expect it to offer class-leading features thanks to the affordable pricing. When Citroen revealed the C3, the company said it will boast features like 10-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, power windows, steering-mounted controls, and a smartphone dock holder.

Citreon are yet to reveal the technical specifications of the upcoming C3. We expect the Citroen C3 to be powered by a 1.2L turbo petrol engine. Transmission options are expected to be a 5-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Citroen C3 will go up against the Tata Punch, Mahindra eKUV100 and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. We hope for competitive pricing from Citroen, given the exorbitant pricing of their only product in India — the C5 Aircross — which is priced from Rs. 32.23 lakh ex-showroom.
