In this February 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all B2-segment SUVs in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all B2-segment SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.

B2-Segment SUV February 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

Among B2-segment SUVs, the Brezza finally surpassed Nexon in terms of monthly sales after trailing Nexon for several months
Maruti sold close to 16,000 units of the Brezza in February compared to around 14,000 units of Nexon dispatched by Tata
The Nexon was the top selling car in the category in February 2022, with just over 12,000 units sold. Tata sold 13.5% more units of the Nexon in February 2023 and still retain the top spot
The Brezza’s rise to the top in monthly sales numbers’ ranking was a result of over 70% YoY gain in February YoY comparison, making it the top gainer in the category
The Kia Sonet became the second top gainer in the category, with a 60% YoY growth in February comparison
On the contrary, Kiger became the top loser, with a 20% YoY decline in dispatches in February 2023
The Mahindra XUV300 was the second biggest loser in February 2023 YoY comparison, with a decline of 15% compared to February 2022
Honda reported zero sales for WR-V in February 2023
Toyota have discontinued the Urban Cruiser
Citroen C3 and eC3 were not on sale last year and hence their YoY analysis is not possible

B2-Segment SUV February 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change

The Brezza and Nexon were the only cars in the category with 5-figure sales numbers in February
The Renault Kiger was the top gainer in the category, with a 56% MoM grwoth in monthly dispatches in February 2023.
The Kiger was followed by the Mahindra Bolero, with 14% MoM gains
The Honda WR-V was the top loser, with a 100% MoM decline in sales. It was followed by the Citroen C3, with over 85% decline in dispatches
