French car maker Renault has displayed the new generation model of its popular Duster SUV at the ongoing 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The all new Renault Duster comes with an all-new design language and boasts of larger dimensions that translate into more spacious interior compared to its predecessor. The new-gen Duster is already available for sale in the European car markets and is sold under Renault’s subsidiary, Dacia brand. The all new Duster compact SUV is expected to launch in India to replace its predecessor, and has been spotted testing on the Indian roads.
The new generation Renault/Dacia Duster compact SUV flaunts an entirely new bonnet, which is placed higher as compared to its preceding model in order to create more space between the bonnet lid and engine components. This new design makes the new Duster comply with the new pedestrian safety norms. The new SUV model gets a newly designed front grille as well as a new set of bumpers. New headlights along with LED Daytime Running Lights complete the all new look.
The new-gen Renault Duster is also expected to get a new sunroof option for 2019, which would only be offered on the range toping variant, while the SUV also gets roof rails.
On the inside, there is a refreshed design along with better materials as well as better fit and finish in order to offer an overall up-class look and feel. The SUV also gets better quality plastics. On the features front, the new Duster comes with a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
When mechanical specifications are concerned, for the car market of India, the all new Renault Duster might get an upgraded 1.5L K9K diesel motor generating 110 hp of peak power. There are chances that Renault India would discontinue the lower-spec 85 hp version. There will also be an updated 1.5L petrol engine. Both the petrol and diesel engines will be BS6 compliant. The petrol mill will get a manual and a CVT automatic transmission choice, while the oil burner will get a manual and an AMT gearbox options.
It is thought that before bringing the new-gen Duster to the Indian market, Renault would update the SUV. If the new-gen Renault Duster launches in India in its updated avatar, then it would be better equipped to adhere to the new safety norms that will come into effect from 1st of April 2019. The new safety norms will require car’s to offer airbags, seat belt alert, speed alert system and rear parking sensors.;
In India, the Renault Duster recently received an update in February. Renault India has endowed some good updates on the Duster SUV, while the lineup has been revised too along with reduced prices. The Duster’s mid-range RxL petrol variant has been dropped, while the Diesel 85PS and the Diesel 110PS RxZ AMT have been also given a miss. On the other hand, Renault has introduced a petrol RxS variant paired with a manual gearbox. Currently, the Duster is now available in India in only three variants, namely - RxE, RxS and RxZ. The current price slash of the Duster makes it come in the price range of Rs. 7.99 to Rs.13.09 lakhs.
Once a highly popular model, the Renault Duster is now suffering from tough competition in India. Once the all new Duster launches, we hope it will gain back its lost glory.;
