The highly anticipated Isuzu MU-X has been snapped while road testing for the first time in India. The Isuzu MU-X is the successor of the Isuzu MU-7 and is reportedly preparing to launch in the car market of India later in this calendar year. The Isuzu MU-X when launched in India will go straight up against the newly launched new-gen Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. For the car market of India it is thought that Isuzu would probably stick to the RZ4E-TC 1.9 liter 4 cylinder diesel to power the Isuzu MU-X in order to be on the safer side.

The Isuzu MU-X premium Sports Utility Vehicle has massive dimensions and measures 4,825 mm long, 1,860 mm wide excluding the Outside Rear View Mirrors and 1,825 mm /1,830 mm/ 1,860 mm tall. The SUV comes riding on a wheelbase that measures 2,845 mm. The Isuzu MU-X car is essentially a redone Chevrolet Trailblazer with the same mechanicals, while coming with differently designed front and rear ends. However, the Isuzu MU-X SUV is being sold as a lesser premium model as compared to that of the Chevrolet SUV.

In the car market of Thailand, where the Isuzu MU-X is already on sale, the SUV comes equipped with two diesel engine options under its hood. It comes with a RZ4E-TC 1.9 liter 4 cylinder diesel engine which has the capability of pumping out a max power output 110 kW or 150 PS and top torque of 350 Nm, and a 4JJ1-TCX 3.0 liter 4 pot diesel motor which has the ability to belt out a peak power output of 130 kW that is equivalent to 177 PS and a top torque output 380 Nm.

For the car market of India it is thought that Isuzu would probably stick to the RZ4E-TC 1.9 liter 4 cylinder diesel to power the Isuzu MU-X in order to be on the safer side. The under 2 liter diesel mill would avoid attractive the green excise duty charges and more importantly any bans on diesel engine capacities of more than 2,000 cc. Thus, this engine option would definitely be a safer bet for the company in the car market of India, which is slowly but surely going against the diesel engine run passenger vehicle models.

The car maker also has another engine option that could power the Isuzu MU-X premium SUV in the Indian market. This is the 2,499 cc 4 cylinder VGS turbocharged diesel motor that has the capability to churn out a max power output of 134 hp at 3,600 rpm along with a top torque output of 320 Nm at the range of 1,800 rpm to 2,800 rpm. This engine also does the duty under the hood of the D-Max V-Cross pickup.

The Isuzu MU-X will come with butch appearance and is expected to be loaded with a number great premium features in order to be at par with its very capable and feature-rich market rivals, which are also highly established in India. The Isuzu MU-X premium SUV will be getting produced at the company’s new manufacturing facility located in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The SUV will come with a premium price range that is likely to be around Rs. 20 to Rs. 25 lakhs.
