Kia is set to launch the Seltos in India on 22 August, and bookings for the car have now opened. The minimum booking amount that Kia has set for the Seltos is Rs 25,000. If you want to know why should you book the Seltos, if you’re already planning to buy an SUV in the Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh range, read this.
With the commencement of bookings, Kia has also made it clear that the Seltos’ GT Line version will be available with the 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine only, and not with both the petrol engines, as expected earlier. The Tech Line, on the other hand, will be available with both the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Kia has previously stated that the Seltos GT Line is made keeping enthusiasts in mind while Tech Line is made keeping families in mind.
The Seltos GT Line will be powered by the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will make around 140PS of maximum power, making Seltos the most powerful compact SUV in India. The performance will be complemented by cosmetics as well, in the GT Line’s case, as it will get red brake callipers and red stitching on the seats, steering and on other places in the upholstery and metal-finished pedals. Kia states that the GT Line will also get sports seats. It remains to be seen if there’s a difference between equipment in the GT and Tech Line or not.
The 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, which will power the Tech Line version, will develop 115PS of maximum power. All the engines on offer on the Seltos will adhere to BS6 emission standards. Also, all the three engines will be available with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. While the 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine will get a dual-clutch automatic transmission, the 1.5-litre petrol engine will be paired with a CVT. The 1.5-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, will come with a torque converter type automatic transmission.
The Seltos is expected to be priced in the Rs 10 lakh to Rs 17 lakh price range. Deliveries of the Seltos are expected to begin right after its launch.
