Lotus Makes India Debut With Eletre Electric SUV | V3Cars

Lotus, the iconic British sports car manufacturer, have made their India debut with the launch of the Eletre SUV. The Lotus Eletre is an all-electric hyper SUV that is offered in 3 variants and it is available through the carmakers’ sole dealer in India – Exclusive Motors, New Delhi. Let’s take a closer look at the Lotus Eletre, including its price, specifications and performance figures.

The Lotus Eletre boasts quite an aggressive front end with arrow-shaped LED DRLs and LED projector headlamps mounted lower down on the bumper. To aid aerodynamic efficiency, the Eletre gets active front grilles and air dams. Around the side, you’ll find flush-fitted door handles and air vents just behind the front wheel arches that allows the air to pass around the SUV efficiently. The blacked out pillars, the sloping roofline with winglets and a boot lip spoiler gives the Eletre a sleek appearance. The rear of the electric SUV features a connected LED taillamp setup and more vents for a smoother air flow.

In India, all variants of the Eletre ride on 22-inch, 10-spoke forged alloy wheels as standard. However, customers also get the option to chose between 20-inch and 23-inch wheels. Lotus are offering the Eletre in 6 colour options – red, green, black, yellow and 2 shades of grey.

Inside the new Lotus Eletre SUV, you’ll find a 15.1-inch landscape-oriented foldable touchscreen infotainment system that controls most of the car functions. Other feature highlights of the Eletre include a 4-zone climate control system, electronically adjustable front seats, wireless charger, air purifier, ambient lighting, and a 15-speaker sound system. Lotus say the interior is made up of recyclable materials and customers can even choose between a 4-seater and 5-seater configuration.

Lotus Eletre Powertrain And Performance

All variants of the Eletre come with a 112kWh battery pack as standard. The Eletre and Eletre S variants get a dual motor setup that claims to offer a range of 600km on a full charge. Both variants produce 608PS of power and 710Nm of torque. The Eletre R is the most powerful variant of the electric SUV and it comes with a dual motor setup and a 2-speed transmission. It offers a claimed range of 490km and puts out 912PS of power and 985Nm of torque. In comparison, the more expensive and petrol-powered Lamborghini Urus’ V8 turbo petrol puts out 650PS of power and 850Nm of torque.

Lotus claims the Eletre and Eletre S variants are capable of completing 0-100kmph in just 4.5 seconds while the more powerful Eletre R does it in 2.95 seconds. With a top speed of 258kmph, Lotus also claim the Eletre R is currently the world’s fastest production electric SUV.

The 3 variants of Lotus’ debut offering for the Indian market are Eletre, Eletre S, and Eltere R. They are priced at Rs. 2.55 crore, Rs. 2.75 crore and Rs. 2.99 crore (ex-showroom), respectively. As far as competition is concerned, the Lotus Eletre rivals the likes of petrol SUVs such as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, Lamborghini Urus S, and the Audi RS Q8 in India.
