Mahindra Release New Ad Of Thar | V3Cars
Mahindra have released a new TVC of the new Thar to celebrate its success. The ad also demonstrates the Thar’s high-speed off-road skills and its abilities to create an emotional bond. The commercial has the tagline ‘Explore The Impossible’. Despite being an off-road-centric, lifestyle 3-door SUV, the Thar crossed close to 1 lakh bookings in the first year of its launch. Half of the Thar buyers opted for automatic transmission whereas the petrol variants account for 25% of total bookings.

Mahindra offer the Thar with two engine options - 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L turbo diesel. The petrol engine produces 150PS of power and 320Nm of torque. The diesel engine produces 130PS and 300Nm of torque. Both the engines come with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter transmission options along with standard four-wheel-drive.
Force Gurkha is the only rival to the Thar but it lacks many features and has limited engine-transmission combinations. Both Mahindra and Force Motors are working on the 5-door models for their respective off-roaders.
We are also looking forward to Maruti Suzuki launching the 5-door version of their Jimny in the Indian market. The Jimny can pose a serious threat to the Mahindra Thar if it goes on sale with an aggressive price tag. The Mahindra Thar range starts from Rs. 13.17 lakh and goes to Rs. 15.53 lakh (ex-showroom). The Force Gurkha comes in a single variant at Rs. 14.10 lakh.
