The Mahindra Scorpio has been on sale for almost 2 decades and over the years, it has achieved cult status among its large fanbase. While the new Scorpio-N is all set to launch on June 27, the current Scorpio continues to sell in good numbers. Looking at the loyal fanbase of the original Scorpio, Mahindra have decided to sell the current-gen Scorpio alongside the new Scorpio-N. From here on, the current-gen Scorpio will be called the Scorpio Classic.

Unfortunately, we do not think the Scorpio Classic will be on sale for a long time. Read on to know why we believe the Scorpio Classic will eventually be discontinued.
Hence, we think Mahindra will discontinue the Scorpio Classic a few months down the line.
Mahindra recently revealed the Scorpio-N, which is the new-gen Scorpio. Up front, the Scorpio-N gets Mahindra’s signature grille with 6 vertical chrome slats. The grille is flanked by twin-barrel LED headlights which also incorporate LED turn indicators. The lower part of the bumper gets C-shaped LED DRLs and a silver skid plate.

The side profile of the Scorpio-N features a strong shoulder line, flowing above the wheel arches. It also gets 5-spoke, dual-tone alloy wheels along with rear disc brakes as well. The greenhouse is large, a common trait among all Scorpio models. The teaser video also gives a glimpse of the vertically-stacked LED taillights — reminiscent of the ones on Volvo’s SUVs. Other features include a shark-fin antenna, functional roof rails, large ORVMs with turn indicators and an electric sunroof.

Mahindra are yet to reveal the interior images of the Scorpio-N. However, multiple spy shots have revealed the expected set of features. These include automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, an infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, drive modes and dual-zone climate control.
The 2022 Scorpio-N will borrow its engine options from Mahindra Thar. It is likely to get the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine options, with both manual and automatic transmission options and an optional 4-wheel-drive system. We recently got to know that base-spec diesel Scorpio-N will produce 130PS. We expect Mahindra to offer the top-spec Scorpio-N with a more powerful engine tune.
