Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the S-Presso in India in October 2019. S-Presso will be a compact, but tall Maruti car likely to be positioned around the WagonR’s range. It is expected to be based on the WagonR’s Heartect-A platform. The S-Presso can be considered to be the production version of the Future-S concept that Maruti Suzuki showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The S-Presso has been spied on numerous occasions, but always wearing camouflage. Spy images suggest that the S-Presso’s dashboard will feature instrument console in the middle. Since it is based on the WagonR and is a tall car, it is likely that it would be as spacious as the former.
As far as engine options are concerned, these would depend on whether the S-Presso is positioned below the WagonR or alongside. If it is positioned below the WagonR, we would expect Maruti to offer the 1.0-litre petrol engine only. However, the carmaker might add the 1.2-litre petrol engine to the S-Presso range if it is positioned around the WagonR. We expect S-Presso’s prices to start from around Rs 4 lakh.
