Exclusive - MG Astor, MG ZS EV Base Model To Soon Get Design Updates

Since the MG Astor’s price revision early in 2024, it’s getting a respectable amount of attention. With the hype around the Windsor, the Astor is getting some more publicity for free as customers interested in the Windsor also check out the other cars on the showroom floor. Moreover, it has a surprisingly good starting price with a shockingly good feature list in the base trim. This is creating a decent demand for the base trim of the Astor.

MG Astor, ZS EV Base Variants Design Features

To contain the costs/improve profit margins, MG are soon going to drop a few features from the base variants of the Astor and its electric twin — ZS EV.

MG Astor Updates

Following are the updates for the Astor lower variants:

Sprint (Astor base model) will soon lose the chrome elements on the grille
Sprint variant will also lose artificial leather steering wheel and get a polyurethane steering
Sprint variant will also lose the ZS badging on the boot lid
Base (Sprint) and upper Shine variants will get a slightly different headlamp design (perhaps this means losing some of the refractive, glowing design elements in the headlamp cluster)

The DRLs and projector headlamp units in the cluster along with the rest of the useful features of the Astor base variant will remain unchanged.

The rest of the higher variants remain unchanged. Besides some cost savings, this move will also help MG visually distinguish the base variant from higher trims. Thus, at least some of the buyers who find the styling irksome might splurge a bit more and buy one of the higher variants, which have far better profit margins.

MG ZS EV Updates

For the MG ZS EV, here are the updates in the near future:

Executive (ZS base model) will lose the “ELECTRIC” badding on both sides of the fender
Just like the Astor, the ZS Executive will also get a slightly updated styling for the headlamps

Here too, the rest of the rest of the useful features and higher variants will continue to remain on sale with the same features without any change.
