MG E230 Micro EV Interior Revealed – Launch Next Year | V3Cars

MG are set to launch a 2-door micro EV, codenamed E230, in India to target urban customers. It has also been spied on tests on Indian roads. We know that it will be the rebadged Wuling Air EV. Recently, Wuling launched the Air EV in Indonesia, revealing its interior. We can expect the same features to make its way into the MG E230.

The interior gets a dual-tone finish in dual-tone off-white used on the dashboard, upholstery and roof lining. The rest of the cabin is finished in black. The use of white makes the cabin look airy and spacious, although the EV is even smaller than the Tata Nano. There are twin 10.25-inch floating screens placed on the top of the dashboard.

One of the screens is a touchscreen infotainment system while the other is a full-colour TFT instrument cluster. There are AC vents placed below the touchscreen followed by 3 rotary knobs for auto AC controls. The 2-spoke steering wheel houses TV remote-like round buttons to control the media, voice commands and access the MID.

There is a rotary gear selector placed ahead of the front armrest. It also houses switches for power windows, the electronic parking brake and auto-hold. However, being an EV, there is no centre console in the cabin, making it feel airier.

As the E230 is very small in length, we expect neither good space in the back seats nor a decent boot space. However, we will reserve our opinion till we get to test the car. As stated earlier, MG will likely target customers looking for an urban, city-runabout with low running costs.

MG Motor India are likely to source the batteries for the E230 locally from Tata AutoComp to keep costs in check. The E230 is likely to deliver a claimed range of 250km, making it ideal for runs within the city. MG are likely to showcase the E230 at the Auto Expo 2023 and launch it later. We expect the E230 to cost under Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
