In this November 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all SUVs in India. We’ll also share our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.
SUV Segment November 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Hyundai was the top-selling brand for SUV body-style cars in November 2021, with 20,793 units sold from the carmaker. Tata was the second biggest SUV seller with 19,972 units sold in the same month.
- However, a year later, Tata emerged as the biggest SUV maker with 31,558 units sold in November 2022, as compared to 19,972 units in November of 2021. Mahindra was on the second spot with 30,035 units sold in November 2022.
- Among the SUVs, the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Creta were the top 2 performers in November. They were followed by the Tata Punch and Maruti Brezza in terms of volume.
- 5 SUVs made it into the 5-figure club in November - Nexon, Creta, Punch, Brezza and Venue.
- In terms of YoY change, the Tata Punch posted a 98.5% improvement and was the clear top gainer amongst the high volume cars of the SUV body-style.
- Mahindra’s Scorpio sisters reported a growth of around 91.5% and was the second best gainer.
- Most mass-market cars performed well and saw a YoY growth in sales.
- Among the notable top losers were the Nissan Kicks with 97% YoY decline, Alturas G4 with 94% YoY drop, C5 AirCross with 60% YoY decline and Jeep Compass with a 47.72% decline.
- Maruti S-Cross, Renault Duster and Volkswagen T-Roc were still in production in November 2021 but were discontinued in the subsequent months.

SUV Segment November 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- Unlike last month, the growth in the mass-market cars was not as striking. Top 15 selling SUVs either saw a decline in numbers or saw a nominal increase at best.
- The top gainer mass market SUV was Tata Nexon with just over 15% MoM rise in November comparison analysis.
- The Urban Cruiser Hyryder from Toyota was the top MoM gainer in October 2022 MoM analysis, with an improvement of 191% over its September sales figures, but saw a decline of almost 8% in November over October.
- Hyrder’s sister from Maruti, Grand Vitara was the biggest loser in MoM comparison in November with a 45% decline in numbers.
- Urban Cruiser has been reporting zero dispatches for a couple of months. Toyota may soon discontinue it officially.

Mahindra have revised the prices of the 2026 XUV 7XO. The AX7 7S variant with the 2.2L turbo diesel-manual powertrain received the biggest price hike of Rs. 20,000. The Mahindra XUV 7XO 2026 prices now start from Rs. 13.99 lakh and go up to Rs. 25.79 lakh. In percentage terms, the price hike is up to 1.02%. The AX7L 7S variant with the 2.0L turbo petrol-automatic powertrain received a nominal price reduction of Rs. 1.
Delhi To Restrict Entry Of Non-BS6 Vehicles From November 1
Delhi will restrict the entry of vehicles registered outside the city that do not meet BS6 emission standards from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. The move is part of the national capital’s winter pollution control plan, aimed at reducing vehicle emissions during the months when air quality usually deteriorates.

Maruti Suzuki have increased the prices of the 2026 Grand Vitara by up to Rs. 10,000. The Zeta variant with the 1.5L normal petrol-manual powertrain received the highest percentage price hike of 0.73%. The Alpha variant with the same powertrain and the Zeta and Alpha variants with the 1.5L normal petrol-automatic powertrain also became costlier by Rs. 10,000. Meanwhile, the Delta and Zeta variants with the 1.5L normal CNG-manual powertrain received a price hike of Rs. 5,000. The prices of all other variants remain unchanged. Following the price revision, the Grand Vitara’s ex-showroom prices range from Rs. 10.77 lakh to Rs. 19.62 lakh.
October 2026: Maruti Suzuki Victoris Price Change - Hiked By Up To 10k
Maruti Suzuki have increased the prices of the 2026 Victoris by up to Rs. 10,000. The ZXI Plus variant with the 1.5L normal petrol-manual powertrain received the highest percentage price hike of 0.65%. The ZXI Plus variant with the 1.5L normal petrol-automatic powertrain also became costlier by Rs. 10,000, while the prices of all other listed variants remain unchanged. Following the price revision, the Victoris’s ex-showroom prices range from Rs. 10.50 lakh to Rs. 19.99 lakh.
October 2026: Maruti Suzuki Eeco Price Change - Hiked By Up To 5k
Maruti Suzuki have increased the prices of the 2026 Eeco by up to Rs. 5,000. The Cargo variant with the 1.2L petrol-manual powertrain received the highest percentage price hike of 0.92%. Select variants with the 1.2L CNG-manual powertrain also became costlier by up to Rs. 5,000, while several other variants received smaller price increases of Rs. 2,500 or remained unchanged. Following the price revision, the Eeco’s ex-showroom prices range from Rs. 5.28 lakh to Rs. 8.09 lakh.
October 2026: Maruti Suzuki Invicto Price Change - Hiked By Up To 5k
Maruti Suzuki have increased the prices of the 2026 Invicto by up to Rs. 5,000. The Zeta Plus 7S variant with the 2.0L hybrid petrol-automatic powertrain received a price hike of Rs. 5,000, representing an increase of 0.20%. The prices of the Zeta Plus 8S and Alpha Plus 7S variants remain unchanged. Following the price revision, the Invicto’s ex-showroom prices range from Rs. 25.02 lakh to Rs. 28.71 lakh.
