The world acclaimed Honda City is one of the pillars of the global success of the Japanese car major. The City mid-sized premium sedan is the top selling model for Honda in the Indian car market. Now, as per the recent reports, Honda Cars India is going to launch the facelift model of the City soon in India. Recently, the reports hinted at the arrival of the new refreshed Honda City by around mid-2017, however, as per the latest reports, the facelift model of the very popular sedan is expected to hit the car market as early as January 2017.

When contacted to confirm this news, Honda Cars India simply kept mum and its spokesperson neither confirmed nor denied the speculations. This however, certainly hints that the new refreshed City could very well be the next upcoming launch in India from the house of Honda. If the speculations about the facelift Honda City’s launch in January are really true, then the Japanese car major is certainly taking the right decision, as the market competition for the City is very tough. On one hand, the City’s popularity has got pretty marred by its popular rival Maruti Ciaz which is also supposed to get a facelift in 2017, while on the other hand its other major rival, the Hyundai Verna is also all geared up to come in its next generation avatar in 2017.

The Honda City has been the highest selling car model from the house of Honda Cars India for around 18 years now. Although, the current City model is the sixth generation model in the global markets, the car market of India never saw the first two generation models of the City and this is the fourth model in this country. The current generation Honda City has been around in India for nearly three years now, and thus it’s time for the highly capable sedan model to get a mid-life update. Honda India has already introduced the refreshed models of both Amaze and Brio quite recently, and now it is naturally the City’s turn.

The new updated Honda City sedan will get some good cosmetic changes in order to come with a fresher appeal. It is expected to come endowed with revamped bumpers, newly designed headlights as well as new tail lights. As per the reports, the facelift model could also offer new alloy wheels design options.

The new City facelift will also get updates and added features on the inside. The sedan’s cabin will offer a new 15.7 cm touchscreen integrated infotainment system, an updated automatic climate control system and updated Bluetooth connectivity among other added features.

All the under the hood bits are expected to remain absolutely unaltered. Being a facelift model, the new Honda City will offer the same engine options of a 1.5L iVTEC petrol engine offering 117 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque and a 1.5L iDTEC diesel mill producing 100 bhp and 200 Nm. The same standard 5 speed manual transmission and the CVT option for petrol version will continue.
