While the Triber borrows its engine and transmission from the Kwid, the AMT implementation is different in the MPV. It’s a 5-speed AMT automatic, but it has 1 extra feature - manual gear selection. The price difference between the manual and automatic variants of the Triber is Rs. 40,000. The same for Renault Kwid 1.0, which gets a rotary style AMT knob on the dash, is Rs. 30,000.
The Triber competes with Datsun Go Plus MPV, which is also an affordable 7-seater car. The Go Plus doesn’t have a removable or spacious third row of seats, sliding and reclining second-row or a better styling than the Triber. But, it has a larger 1.2-litre petrol engine with more power and torque and a more refined CVT automatic transmission. The Datsun Go Plus is also more affordable as its prices start at Rs. 4.2 lakh. Its top variant, which also gets alloy wheels, costs Rs. 6.9 lakh.
Renault is offering the option of booking the Triber or any other Renault car without making any payment. There’s also a 3-month EMI holiday option under which EMIs will start from the fourth month of purchase. This scheme is available from Renault Finance only, for the Triber. It is, however, limited to a maximum loan amount of Rs. 4.5 lakh and for a loan tenure of 36 months at an interest rate of 8.99%. These offers are applicable for the month of May 2020.
Renault showcased the Triber AMT at the Auto Expo 2020 in February 2020. Check out our walkaround video of the car from the auto show:
