It has been already reported that due to the trademark breech issue, Skoda Auto India has been prohibited by the court to use the Monte Carlo moniker in the car market of India. Thus, the Czech auto major had to re-badge the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition as the Rapid Edition X. However, Skoda India has not yet revealed the price list for the Edition X. As per a report by carwale.com, the introductory prices of the Skoda Rapid Edition X have been revealed by the dealer sources. The report also states that the special edition model of the Rapid sedan is now available for bookings at dealer level.
As per the report, the Skoda Rapid Edition X has a starting price tag of Rs. 10.2 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). As evident, the price range of the Edition X is very similar to that of the Monte Carlo edition, which was launched by the company in August this year. However, the prices are the festive season prices and are hence, lower than the actual showroom price range. The petrol manual transmission model has been tagged at Rs. 10.2 lakhs, while the petrol automatic variant is priced at Rs. 11.74 lakhs. On the other hand, the special edition model’s diesel manual gearbox model has been priced at Rs. 12.24 lakhs, while the diesel automatic model has been tagged at Rs. 13.24 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai).
As it has already been reported most of the features and cosmetic upgrades of the new Rapid Edition X model are expected to be similar to that of the ones seen on the Monte Carlo edition. So, the sporty cosmetic upgrades many of which are black finished are expected to be continued on the Edition X. These features include the black finished radiator grille, wing mirror covers, rear diffuser and the lip spoiler on the tailgate. The special edition sedan model also gets sporty 16 inch machined alloy wheels painted in black.
On the inside, the added new special features include premium Onyx Alcantara leather seat upholstery with sporty red contrast stitching, faux carbon fibre trim, sporty aluminum finished scuff plates and a flat bottom steering wheel. The red stitching continues on the steering wheel as well as the gear lever cover to add to the sporty charm.
Under the hood, the Skoda Rapid Edition X comes powered with the same engine options which do the duty on the regular version. Powertrain options include a 1.6 litre naturally aspirated petrol mill and a 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel motor. The petrol mill is capable of generating 103 bhp of power, while the oil burner is good to offer 108 bhp. Both the engines are paired with a 5 speed manual transmission as standard. The petrol mill offers a 6 speed torque converter automatic transmission option, while the diesel avatar gets a 7 speed DSG transmission option.
As mentioned above, the Skoda Edition X is already available for booking at the dealership level, and deliveries are also expected to begin within this month.
