Spied: 2018 Maruti Suzuki Eritga Testing Again

Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the next-gen Ertiga in the Indian market and the vehicle has been sped testing several times. Though, the launch updates are still under the wraps, the upcoming MPV has been spied testing again in the country. The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was first seen on the internet back in October 2017 and since then the launch speculations are making rounds in the market.
According to the previously spied images, the upcoming MPV could be based on a brand new architecture and will be bigger in terms of dimension as compared to the outgoing model. The existing model measures 4,400mm in length, 1,720 mm in width, 1,695mm in height with 2,740mm wheelbase, 185 mm ground clearance, fuel tank capacity of 45-litres and the kerb weight of 1,100 kg.
The newly spied images give a clear idea about the rear end of the upcoming MPV. In terms of exterior features, we can expect the 2018 Ertiga to come with a sharper front fascia with an all-new projector headlamp, reworked fog lamp cluster and grille assembly while the rear stand out seem to be extended for roomier cabin the tail lamp cluster appears to have received new graphics in terms of modifications. Apart from these, the tailgate window appears to have been shortened with a more appealing stance to make it look like a two part design, tail lamp graphics incorporated with LED signature. Apart from these, the top-end variant is expected to get LED Daytime Running Lights and projector headlamps while the rear wiper mounted on the centre of the rear glass area.
Since, the upcoming Ertiga will be bigger than the outgoing model hence the cabin of the 2018 MPV is expected to be bigger as well. However, no interior details are out yet but we can expect the vehicle to feature a similar dashboard design as the new Dzire with a premium touch by the automaker. According to the reports in the market, the top-end variants are likely to offer the same touchscreen infotainment system from the Dzire with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity while the safety features will include dual front airbags will be standard across the range with ABS and EBD as advanced safety features.
;Under the hood, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is expected to come with Suzuki’s in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine rather than the existing 1.3-litre inline four-cylinder DDiS unit. However, the 1.4-litre K-Series VVT petrol engine in the existing Ertiga is likely to be there with the same performance output of 94 bhp of maximum power and 130 Nm of peak torque. While the CNG version of the 1.4-litre K-Series VVT petrol engine will still be on offer, there is a doubt if the automaker will offer a SHVS Hybrid option with the 1.5-litre motor or not. The transmission duties are expected to be the Five-Speed Manual or Five-Speed AMT as an option. The engines are also expected to be tuned to return better fuel efficiency as compared to the outgoing model.
The pricing and launch details are still under the cover and are expected to be revealed sometime soon. When launched, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will take against the upcoming Mahindra U321 that will also be launched in India soon.
