Tata Blackbird SUV — What To Expect From Upcoming Creta Rival? | V3Cars

Tata Blackbird SUV

Tata Blackbird SUV Exterior Design And Dimensions

The Tata Blackbird is likely to follow Tata's signature design language that we have seen in the Harrier and Punch. It could offer a split LED headlight setup at the front, with Tata’s signature Humanity Line grille. The Blackbird SUV could also feature a tall bonnet and skid plates to give it a rugged appeal.

At the side, the Blackbird could offer 90-degree wide opening front and rear doors for easy ingress and egress. Like its rivals, the Blackbird could ride on 17-inch wheels while the top variant could even feature 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Blackbird is likely to offer a striking design with a tapering roof line and slim LED tail lights, with a connecting LED light bar.

Tata Blackbird SUV Interiors And Features

We expect the Tata Blackbird SUV to offer class-leading space and features. It could boast the latest infotainment system from Tata Motors with connected car tech as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Blackbird SUV could also feature an all-digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, electrically-adjustable driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, lane keeping assist, 6 airbags, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats and 360-degree camera.

Tata Blackbird SUV Engine Specifications

The Tata Blackbird is likely to share its powertrain options with the Nexon. While there were rumours about Tata Motors developing a 1.5L turbo petrol engine, our sources suggest that the project has been postponed for a future timeline. The Nexon comes with the option of a 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine. The same engines could find a place under the bonnet of the Blackbird, albeit with a more powerful performance tune.

The best-selling C-segment SUV, the Hyundai Creta, comes with 1.5L normal petrol, 1.4L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine options. If equipped with the Nexon’s powertrain, the Blackbird is likely to lag behind its rivals in terms of power and torque figures but offer better fuel efficiency.

Tata Blackbird SUV Launch Timeline And Rivals

There is no official confirmation from Tata Motors regarding the launch of the Blackbird SUV. However, we expect Tata Motors to showcase the concept of the Blackbird SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. If launched, it will not only take the Hyundai Creta facelift, which is likely to make its debut at the Auto Expo, but also the recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder as well as the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Hyryder. Other rivals of the Tata Blackbird will include the Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor.
