CNG Will Become The USP Of Tata Punch In The Affordable Small SUV Segment | V3Cars

Once it goes on sale, the Tata Punch CNG will become the only CNG bi-fuel option in the affordable SUV/crossover segment. This powertrain option will make it the USP of the Punch. Moreover, the Punch CNG packs another USP, which Tata showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. The Punch CNG will offer a usable boot space of 150 litres. While it doesn’t sound like much, it’s certainly more than what most other CNG cars offer in this price range.

Tata Punch CNG

Just like the Altroz CNG, the Tata Punch CNG will become a rare car with a decent boot space. Tata achieved this by splitting one large CNG cylinder into 2 and shoving them down in the boot cavity. As a result, the spare wheel of the Punch has moved down and is accessible from under the boot. This is new for a car under Rs. 10.0 lakh but it’s a common way of storing the spare wheel in big SUVs like the Mahindra Scorpio N. It is a little cumbersome to access this spare wheel but this is another thing that will give the Punch CNG a big SUV vibe.

It’s worth noting that Tata recently updated their cars with the BS6 Phase-2 engines. As a result, the mileage of the Punch petrol-manual powertrain went up by 1.13kmpl. It now stands at 20.09kmpl. The petrol-automatic version of the Punch continues with a mileage figure of 18.8kmpl. You can read more about this at the following link:
