Toyota Fortuner GR Sport Spied In India — Launch Soon? | V3Cars

The Toyota Fortuner is one of the most popular family SUVs in the Indian market. Toyota India expanded the Fortuner portfolio with the launch of the Fortuner Legender in October last year. The Fortuner Legenger has been a successful product for Toyota and rumours now suggest that the carmaker is gearing up to launch the Fortuner GR Sport soon.

The Toyota Fortuner GR Sport is already on sale in the Thai market. It gets several sporty bits and pieces, both on the inside as well as its exterior. Speaking of the exterior changes, the Fortuner GR Sport gets a gloss black front grille, tweaked front bumper, sporty rear spoiler, body-coloured side cladding and 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Fortuner GR Sport gets a red-and-black dashboard, GR seat upholstery, perforated leather steering wheel with GR badging, leather-covered gear knob, carbon fibre inserts, sports pedals and GR emblems.

In the Thai market, the Fortuner GR Sport comes with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine. It produces 204PS of power between 3000rpm and 3400rpm and 500Nm of torque between 1600rpm and 2800rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission and 4-wheel-drive. We can expect the India-spec Fortuner GR Sport to feature the same engine and performance figures.

Fortuner GR Sport

We expect Toyota to launch the Fortuner GR Sport soon. The Fortuner GR Sport is likely to sit above the Fortuner Legender and command a substantial premium. Toyota Fortuner goes up against the MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the upcoming Jeep Meridian.
