While unveiling the Toyota Innova Hycross, Toyota confirmed that the Innova Crysta diesel will remain on sale alongside the Innova Hycross for the foreseeable future. Bookings for the Innova Crysta diesel are set to resume in January 2023.

On the day the Innova Hycross was unveiled in India, Toyota replaced the Innova Crysta with the new Innova Hycross on their website. The move triggered speculation that Toyota had discontinued the Innova Crysta to make way for the new MPV. Later that day, however, Toyota officials confirmed that the Innova Crysta will remain on sale alongside the Innova Hycross, albeit with the 2.4L diesel engine only. The 2.4L diesel engine is expected to receive a few updates to make it compliant with BS6 phase 2 emission norms.

Toyota launched the Innova Crysta back in 2016 with 3 engine options — a 2.7L normal petrol, a 2.4L turbo diesel and a 2.8L turbo diesel engine. The 2.8L diesel engine was discontinued due to lackluster sales and an increase in prices due to BS6 emission compliance. With the arrival of the Innova Hycross, Toyota will pull the plug on the Innova Crysta petrol.
For petrol buyers, Toyota will offer the Innova Hycross with its efficient 2.0L normal and hybrid petrol engines whereas the Innova Crysta will continue to cater to cab aggregators with its dependable and frugal 2.4L diesel engine.
Toyota will announce the prices of the Innova Hycross in January and we expect Toyota to reveal the prices of the Crysta diesel on the same day itself. While bookings for the Innova Hycross are currently open for a token amount of Rs. 50,000, the bookings for the Innova Crysta diesel will resume in January 2023.
