2026 Volkswagen Taigun Regains Momentum Post Mid-life Update | Volkswagen Taigun Sales Analysis | V3Cars
Volkswagen Taigun recorded sales of 1,543 units in April 2026, registering a 69.93% month-on-month growth compared to 908 units sold in March 2026. On a year-on-year basis as well, the Taigun posted a 33.59% increase over April 2025 sales of 1,155 units.
The sharp improvement in April 2026 sales can be directly attributed to the launch of the Taigun facelift on April 14, 2026. The updated Taigun introduced refreshed styling updates along with a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission paired with the 1.0L turbo petrol engine. This new gearbox should impact Taigun 1.0’s efficiency positively.
The Taigun’s April recovery comes after a relatively soft start to 2026. The SUV sold 698 units in February 2026 before improving to 908 units in March and then crossing the 1,500-unit mark in April. This also marks the Taigun’s highest monthly sales figure in several months.
Over the last 12 months, Volkswagen sold a total of 14,090 units of the Taigun, translating to an average monthly sales figure of 1,174 units. The SUV’s 6-month total sales stood at 6,794 units with a monthly average of 1,132 units, while the last 3 months contributed 3,149 units at an average of 1,050 units per month.
The Taigun competes in the C1 SUV segment against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. With the addition of the new 8-speed automatic transmission and updated styling package, Volkswagen will now be aiming to sustain this renewed momentum in the coming months.
