Here’s Why You Should Buy The Urban Cruiser Hyryder Strong Hybrid

It’s no secret that the strong hybrid drivetrains offer their best real-world fuel efficiency under city limits. So if you spend most of your time within the confines of the city, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid comes out as a perfect powertrain for you. The fuel efficiency only gets better, relatively speaking, in bumper-to-bumper traffic conditions as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder switches to EV mode and uses its battery power and electric motor to rotate the front wheels.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder will also impress you with its fuel efficiency on the highways. However, if you spend most of your time on the highways or commute over long distances, the strong hybrid won’t match your expectations in terms of fuel efficiency. On the highways, or at high speeds to be specific, the hybrid system works at full potential, making use of both the engine and the electric motor. As most of the strong hybrid engines run Atkinson cycle, they do not excel in performance and the efficiency only worsens when driven hard.

However, if you want the Urban Cruiser Hyryder with a powertrain that suits your highway commutes, we recommend you buy the Urban Cruiser Hyryder mild hybrid automatic. It works effortlessly on the highway while offering good refinement and fuel efficiency. The 1.5L mild hybrid engine in the Urban Cruiser Hyryder is a 4-cylinder unit as opposed to the 3-cylinder of the strong hybrid. 4-cylinder engines offer better refinement and insulation levels over 3-cylinder engines. It is worth noting that Toyota charge Rs. 1.20 lakh premium for the automatic transmission over its manual variants whereas Maruti Suzuki charge Rs. 1.50 lakh for the Grand Vitara automatic over its manual variants.

Hence, if you are considering the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV as your next car, we’d advise you to make a list of your priorities before heading to your closest Toyota showroom. If you value fuel efficiency over everything else and plan to use the Urban Cruiser Hyryder mostly in the city, then the strong hybrid makes a strong case for itself. However, if you plan to drive longer distances, we’d advise you to buy the mild hybrid variants, especially the automatic.
