There are 6 variants of the 2026 Tata Tiago:
The 2026 Tata Tiago is available with the following 2 petrol powertrain options:
1.2L normal petrol-manual: This powertrain is available in all 5 variants and also in the extra Pure Plus A variant. They cost between Rs. 4.70 lakh and Rs. 7.30 lakh (ex-sh).
1.2L normal petrol-auto (AMT): The petrol-automatic powertrain is available in Pure and higher variants except the base Smart. Tiago petrol-automatic variants are priced from Rs. 6.00 lakh to Rs. 7.85 lakh, ex-showroom.
Additionally, the 2026 Tata Tiago is available with the following 2 CNG powertrain options:
1.2L normal CNG-manual: Tiago CNG-manual powertrain is available in all variants, including the Pure Plus A variant. The CNG variant price of the Tata Tiago with manual transmission starts from Rs. 5.80 lakh and stretches up to Rs. 8.00 lakh (ex-sh).
1.2L normal CNG-auto (AMT): The Tiago CNG-automatic powertrain is available in Pure, Pure Plus, Pure Plus A variants and the top-spec Creative variant. The Tata Tiago CNG AMT remains the only CNG-auto hatchback in its segment and one amongst the five CNG-auto (AMT) cars in the Indian market.
The difference in ex-showroom price between the Tiago petrol-manual and Tiago CNG-manual variants ranges from Rs. 1.0 lakh to Rs. 1.10 lakh. At the time of writing, petrol costs Rs. 102.12 per litre in Delhi, while CNG costs Rs. 83.09 per kg.
Check: Fuel Price (Petrol, Diesel and CNG) In Your City
Tata have not announced the mileage figures of the 2026 Tiago petrol manual yet. However, we expect the mileage to drop by around 5 percent due to the switch to E20 fuel. The 2025 Tiago petrol-manual had an ARAI-certified mileage of 19.01kmpl. Based on this, we expect the 2026 Tiago petrol-manual to offer around 18.06kmpl. The 2026 Tiago CNG-manual mileage should continue at 26.49kmpkg.
Based on the current fuel prices and expected mileage figures, the Tiago petrol-manual costs around Rs. 5.65 per kilometre to run. In comparison, the Tiago CNG-manual costs around Rs. 3.14 per kilometre. That translates to a saving of roughly Rs. 2.51 per kilometre with the CNG version.
Considering the higher upfront price of the Tiago CNG manual variants, you will need to drive around 40,000km to 44,000km to recover the additional cost through fuel savings alone.
The difference in ex-showroom price between the Tiago petrol-automatic and Tiago CNG-auto variants ranges from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.05 lakh.
The 2025 Tiago petrol-automatic had an ARAI-certified mileage of 19kmpl. Based on this, we expect the 2026 Tiago petrol-auto to offer around 18.05kmpl. The 2026 Tiago CNG-auto mileage should continue at 28.06kmpkg.
Based on the current fuel prices and expected mileage figures, the Tiago petrol-automatic costs around Rs. 5.66 per kilometre to run. In comparison, the Tiago CNG-manual costs around Rs. 2.70 per kilometre. That translates to a saving of roughly Rs. 2.70 per kilometre with the CNG version.
Considering the higher upfront price of the Tiago CNG automatic variants, buyers will need to drive around 37,000km to 39,000km to recover the additional cost through fuel savings alone.
In this section, we’ll compare the 2026 Tata Tiago variants to find out what features each variant offers and how much extra you pay for every upgrade. We’ll start with the base Smart petrol variant’s standard features and then compare the Tiago Smart, Pure, Pure Plus, Pure Plus A, Creative and Creative Plus variants to help you decide which Tiago variant offers the best value.
The 2026 Tata Tiago base model is available with petrol-manual and CNG-manual powertrain options with an ex-showroom price of Rs. 4.70 lakh and Rs. 5.80 lakh, respectively. The CNG option carries a premium of Rs. 1.10 lakh. Meanwhile, all other CNG manual variants cost Rs. 1.0 lakh more than comparable petrol variants.
It gets some notable features like:
In the Tiago base model, you don’t get the following must-have features:
Because of these missing features, we’ll suggest you skip the base variant of the Tiago and push your budget to accommodate a higher trim. The Tiago base variant is not recommended.
The Tata Tiago Pure variant also gets an additional 2 powertrain options — petrol-auto (AMT) and CNG-AMT automatic. The Pure petrol manual has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 5.50 lakh, which is Rs. 80,000 higher than Smart petrol manual. The Pure CNG manual variant is Rs. 70,000 more expensive costing Rs. 6.50 lakh (ex-sh). It brings the price gap between petrol and CNG down from Rs. 1.10 lakh to Rs. 1.0 lakh.
For the additional price, this variant adds the following features:
In the Tiago Pure variant, you may miss the following features:
The Pure variant adds several must-have features to the mix and feels like a fairly complete package. However, the premium of Rs. 70,000 - 80,000 is too high for these features. It offers fairly low value for money with the petrol-manual powertrain. Even with other powertrains, the higher variants offer superior value for money score and a more balanced feature distribution. Hence, we will suggest you skip the Tiago Pure and buy a higher variant.
The 2026 Tiago Pure and Pure Plus variants are available with petrol-manual, petrol-automatic, CNG-manual and CNG-automatic powertrain options. The Pure Plus variant costs Rs. 50,000 more than the Pure with the petrol-manual, CNG-manual and CNG-automatic powertrains, while the petrol-automatic version commands a slightly higher premium of Rs. 55,000. In both variants, the Tiago CNG-manual costs Rs. 1 lakh more than the petrol-manual, while the Tiago CNG-automatic costs Rs. 55,000 more than the CNG-manual.
The Pure Plus variant adds the following features:
In the Tiago Pure Plus variant, you may miss the following good-to-have features:
Except for the TPMS and split rear seats, all of these features are available in the higher variants. On the value front, the Pure Plus offers a fantastic proposition fully justifying the premium you’re paying over the base trim. Moreover, there’s a nice balance of good-to-have and must-have features here. The Tiago Pure Plus is our top recommendation with all powertrain options.
The 2026 Tiago Pure Plus A costs Rs. 50,000 more than the Pure Plus across all four powertrain options — petrol-manual, petrol-automatic, CNG-manual and CNG-automatic. In both variants, the Tiago petrol-automatic costs Rs. 55,000 more than the petrol-manual, while the Tiago CNG-automatic costs Rs. 55,000 more than the CNG-manual. Based on the listed prices, the CNG-manual costs Rs. 1 lakh more than the petrol-manual in both trims.
The Pure Plus A variant adds the following features:
In the Tiago Pure Plus A variant, you may miss the following features:
That’s it. Considering the asking price of the Pure Plus A variant and the segment of the Tiago, there’s absolutely nothing we can demand from Tata Motors in this variant. Some of these features are quite desirable. And this variant also offers a good VFM score of more than 100% across all powertrains. So, if you wish to have these features, you can go ahead and buy this variant knowing well that you’re not compromising on the value front at all.
The 2026 Tiago Creative variant costs Rs. 50,000 more than the Pure Plus A across all four powertrain options — petrol-manual, petrol-automatic, CNG-manual and CNG-automatic. In both variants, the Tiago petrol-automatic costs Rs. 55,000 more than the petrol-manual, while the Tiago CNG-automatic costs Rs. 55,000 more than the CNG-manual. The Tiago CNG-manual costs Rs. 1 lakh more than the petrol-manual in both trims.
The Creative variant adds the following notable features:
Besides a sensor-based TPMS and split folding rear seat backs, the Creative variant also doesn’t miss out on much considering the car’s segment and price point. This variant also completely justifies the asking price from the Tiago base trim. So, you could buy it if you value some, or any of these features. However, our top recommendation remains the Pure Plus variant, which will meet the needs of most Tiago buyers.
The 2026 Tiago Creative Plus top model costs Rs. 30,000 more than the Creative with both petrol-manual and petrol-automatic powertrain options. Unlike the Creative variant, the Creative Plus is not available with CNG-manual or CNG-automatic options. In the Tiago Creative variant, the petrol-automatic costs Rs. 55,000 more than the petrol-manual, while the CNG-automatic costs Rs. 55,000 more than the CNG-manual.
The Creative Plus variant adds the following notable features:
Even in the top model, the Tiago offers a good value for money score across both petrol powertrains. It earns the ‘worth buying’ rating from us even though it doesn’t get a couple of features. We wish it offered split folding rear seat backs and a sensor based TPMS.
The Tiago petrol and Tiago CNG buying guide is fairly straightforward. The base model misses out on several must-have features. So, the Tiago base model is not recommended for petrol as well as CNG buyers.
Moving higher, the Pure offers almost all of the must-have features you’d expect from a car at this price point. But its VFM score is between poor and so-so. Moreover, the higher Pure Plus variant fixes the VFM problem while making the package feel more complete with a bunch of good-to-have features. So, the Pure Plus earns our top recommendation for all Tiago buyers. With all powertrains, this variant manages to fully justify the price premium you’re paying over the base model.
All of the higher variants offer a similar or slightly better value for money. But, none offer enough compelling features to warrant an upgrade. So, if Pure Plus is not enough to meet your preferences, you could choose any of the higher variants with the knowledge that you’re getting a healthy VFM score.
The Tiago has a 3-cylinder normal petrol engine which makes 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque. While its torque peaks compared to the normal petrol engine of its rivals, it’s worth noting that some of its rivals like Nios and WagonR, offer a 4-cylinder engine, which is smoother. After the generation update, even the Swift gets a 3-cylinder but it makes up for that shortcoming with an insane mileage figure of ~25-26kmpl.
*Estimated
The Tiago CNG gets a 1.2L 3-cylinder normal CNG engine, which makes 76PS of power and 97Nm of torque. It is the most powerful CNG car in this comparison, although the Swift offers higher torque and a much better claimed mileage of 32.85kmpkg. The Nios, meanwhile, gets a 4-cylinder CNG engine, which should offer better smoothness than the 3-cylinder engines of the Tiago, Swift and WagonR. What works in the Tiago’s favour is the CNG-automatic option, which none of its rivals offer.
You can use our Fuel Cost Calculator to see how much any petrol, diesel or CNG car will cost to run based on the latest fuel price in your city.
The 2026 Tiago sits in the middle of this comparison in terms of size. It is longer than the Celerio and WagonR, and almost as long as the Nios, but shorter than the Swift. The Tiago's width is slightly more than the Nios but lower than the Swift.
*Estimated
The Tiago’s wheelbase, however, is the shortest in this comparison at 2400mm, while its 242-litre boot space is also the lowest among these cars. It is worth noting that Tata, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki and other manufacturers do not officially provide the boot space figures of the CNG variants. However, the Tiago and Nios CNG variants use a twin-cylinder CNG tank layout, which helps free up more usable boot space compared to a conventional CNG tank setup of the Marutis.
In terms of ground clearance, the Tiago petrol offers 170mm, while the Tiago CNG offers 168mm. This puts it ahead of the Nios and Swift, and on par with the Celerio and WagonR petrol. Another notable point is the 2026 Tiago’s base tyre size. Like the WagonR, it gets 13-inch wheels with 155-section tyres in the lower variants, while the Nios, Celerio and Swift offer larger 14-inch wheels in their base variants.
The 2026 Tiago petrol and CNG are available in 6 monotone colours:
The Tiago Creative Plus top model is available with a black roof, making this the only variant with a dual-tone exterior.
