Let’s first look at the prices of both the cars for the petrol-manual powertrain.
With the petrol-manual powertrain, the MG Astor’s prices start at Rs. 10.52 lakh and top out at Rs. 14.88 lakh. The Tata Harrier is not available with any petrol engine options.

The Astor’s 7 petrol-automatic variants cost between Rs. 13.68 lakh and Rs. 18.43 lakh. The Tata Harrier is not available with any petrol engine options.
MG Astor is not offered with a diesel engine option. Meanwhile, the Harrier diesel-manual is available in 11 variants available with prices starting from Rs. 15 lakh and going up to Rs. 21.77 lakh (ex-showroom).

The MG Astor and the Tata Harrier are both SUVs. The Astor is 4323mm long, 1809mm wide and 1650mm tall. The Astor’s wheelbase is 2585mm long. The Harrier measures 4598mm long, 1894mm wide and 1706mm tall and has a wheelbase measuring 2741mm. In terms of dimensions, the MG Astor is significantly smaller than the Tata Harrier. So, the Harrier will offer stronger road presence than the Astor.
The Astor’s ground clearance and boot space details are not available at the moment. The Tata Harrier has a ground clearance of 205mm and a boot space measuring 425 litres.
The MG Astor is available with 2 petrol engines - a 1.5L normal petrol and a 1.4L turbo petrol. The 1.5L normal petrol gets a 5-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options, while the 1.4L turbo petrol is available with a 6-speed TC automatic transmission.
The 1.5L normal petrol engine of the Astor makes 110PS of power at 6000rpm and 144Nm of torque between 4400 and rpm. The 1.4L turbo petrol engine in the MG Astor pushes out 140PS of power at 5600rpm and 220Nm of torque at 3600rpm.

Tata Harrier is not available in any petrol engine options.
The Tata Harrier only gets a 2.0L turbo diesel engine, which is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed TC automatic transmission. The Harrier’s 2.0L turbo diesel engine makes 170PS of power at 3750rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1750 and 2500rpm.
