2022 Toyota Glanza Facelift Likely To Be Launched In March | V3Cars

While Maruti Suzuki are expected to launch the new Baleno on February 23rd, Toyota are likely to launch the updated Glanza in March. While it will closely resemble the new Baleno in terms of design and features, we expect Toyota to make it more distinctive this time.

2022 Toyota Glanza

Some of you may already know that the Glanza is a rebadged version of Maruti’s premium hatchback, the Baleno. Maruti manufacture both hatchbacks at their plant. We reckon that after the launch of the new Baleno, Maruti are unlikely to keep manufacturing the older version of the hatchback for Toyota. Rumours suggest that the stock of the Glanza is at its end, Hence, we can expect Toyota to launch the updated Glanza based on the new Baleno soon after Maruti introduce it in the market.

While the outgoing Glanza only gets a different grille and the Toyota logo to differentiate it from Maruti’s Baleno, the updated hatchback is expected to get significant changes for better differentiation. We expect Toyota to introduce the new Glanza with a different set of bumpers than the new Baleno.

Other than that, the features set will remain the same between these premium hatchbacks. Like the new Baleno, the 2022 Glanza should get features like a head-up display, a new, bigger touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, etc. The Glanza could also feature the new LED headlamps, LED taillamps and a new tailgate seen on the Baleno’s teaser images.

2022 Glanza will carry forward the 1.2L normal petrol engine with a mild-hybrid setup. It produces 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque. The new Baleno will also use the same engine. Toyota recently increased the prices of the Glanza. The prices of G Hybrid was increased by Rs. 45,000 while other variants received a hike of Rs. 21,000.

Like before, we expect Toyota to only offer the Glanza based on the mid-spec and top-spec variants of the Baleno. However, the new Glanza could get 3 variants this time – one based on Zeta, the second based on Alpha and the third based on the rumoured new top-spec variant of the Baleno. Toyota are expected to price the Glanza at a small premium over the Baleno as they offer a better warranty package than Maruti.
