Maruti are all set to launch the updated Brezza tomorrow. Ahead of its launch, leaked documents suggest that the new Brezza will come in 10 variants. These include 7 manual and 3 automatic variants.

Here is the variant list of the 2022 Brezza:

  3. VXi
  4. VXi (O)

The variant list remains the same as before, save for the optional (O) variants. We think that the optional variants are likely to come with 6 airbags while the standard variants will come with dual front airbags only. This will make the new Brezza ready for upcoming safety norms in the country. The ZXi+ variant will get 6 airbags as standard.

Once the new regulations come into effect from October 2022, Maruti could discontinue the standard variants making the Brezza compliant with the new norms. Maruti pulled off a similar strategy with their smaller cars when dual airbags were made mandatory.

Other information from the leaked document suggests that the new Brezza will get the mild-hybrid setup across the range. Earlier, Maruti only offered the mild-hybrid setup with the automatic variants. The new Brezza will get mild-hybrid setup right from the manual base variant to the top automatic transmission variant.

The mild-hybrid setup should help increase fuel efficiency. Hence, we can expect the new Brezza’s claimed fuel efficiency to increase significantly over its preecessor. The new Brezza will get an updated 1.5L dual-jet normal petrol engine with a mild-hybrid setup, producing 103PS of power at 6000rpm and 137Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a new 6-speed torque converter.

It will compete with the recently updated Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite and Reanult Kiger. The new Maruti Suzuki Brezza is likely to be priced between Rs. 8.0 lakh and Rs. 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
