The launch of the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift will mark the return of the diesel-manual transmission option in the lower variants of the B2-segment SUV. A leaked brochure recently revealed the variant-wise powertrain options for the Sonet facelift, which revealed the return of the Sonet diesel-manual. The Sonet diesel-manual was discontinued in March 2023, after which it was only available with the 6-speed auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) and 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic transmission.

The leaked brochure which emerged online revealed the engine and transmission options available with each Sonet diesel variant:
According to the leaked brochure, Kia will offer the diesel-manual option in the HTE, HTK and HTK Plus variants of the Sonet.

The reintroduction of the diesel-manual powertrain option in the Sonet facelift could help Kia lower the starting price of the Sonet diesel by Rs. 5,000 even after taking inflation and the premium carmakers charge for a facelifted model. Thus, the Kia Sonet diesel variants could get a starting price of Rs. 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This would also leave Kia enough room to increase the price by around Rs. 10,000 later to adjust for inflation while keeping the price below the Rs. 10.0 lakh psychological barrier.
The Kia Sonet is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine that puts out 100PS of power and 240Nm of torque with the manual transmission and 110PS of power and 250Nm of torque with the 6-speed TC automatic.
