The Jaguar I-Pace has been one of the most spied and speculated upcoming launches of recent times. All auto enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for the unveiling of this advanced all-electric SUV which is claimed to be changing the very notion of EVs (electric vehicles). Now, ending all the talks, speculations and innumerable spy pictures, Jaguar has officially introduced the production version of the brand new I-Pace, just before its public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show 2018.
Of course all the new models coming from the house of the iconic British luxury auto major, Jaguar Land Rover grab a lot of attention in the auto world, but the all-new Jaguar I-Pace is much more than just a brand new Jaguar model. The I-Pace is the company’s first ever full-electric vehicle model, and it is a different take on electric vehicles with all the qualities of a perfect luxury sports SUV. The Jaguar I-Pace comes with stunning design language as well, which has been the primary talking point. The actual model looks very close to the original concept which was showcased in 2016, which is a great thing. The test model has been spotted innumerable times while it was testing at the Nurburgring and other places and we knew quite a lot of details about its fascinating looks. However, it’s the under the skin mechanical bits which make this SUV so special and different from any other Jaguar model.
The all-new Jaguar I-Pace gets powered by Jaguar's state-of-the-art 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers two electric motors. This all-electric drivetrain is also both practical and performance oriented. The powertrain offers a max power of 394 hp and an impressive 696 Nm of top torque, which propels the sporty SUV from a standstill position to the speed level of 100 kmph in an amazing 4.8 seconds. Along with speed and performance, the I-Pace also offers a great range of 298 miles (480 km) on a fully charged battery. The Jaguar I-Pace also supports fast charging and with a 100 kWh DC fast charger it can get recharged to up to 80 percent in only 40 minutes.
While speaking on the new Jaguar I-Pace, the Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar, Ian Hoban said that the company set out with an entirely new approach to harness the new battery electric technology along with a design and architecture which was built to optimize performance, aerodynamics as well as interior space. The I-Pace is the end result of all that. It is a true Jaguar and a really driver-focused electric vehicle. For the I-Pace owners, the fuel stations will become a backdated thing, as after an overnight charging they will wake up every morning with a full fuel tank.
Jaguar is also very serious about optimizing the range of the I-Pace, as range is anal important question for all the EV buyers. Thus, the I-Pace comes endowed with a navigation system that is specifically designed to provide routes to make sure that the maximum possible range is delivered.
The Jaguar I-Pace is open for pre-order now, and its prices start from £63,495 in the UK (approximately US$87,500) before any government incentives.
