In this October 2023 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change for the 20 top-selling cars of October 2023. Using this data, we will also provide our observations and insights on the reasons for significant improvements or declines in sales, where relevant.
October 2023 - 20 Top-Selling Cars YoY Change
- Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the market with 3 of its models (WagonR, Swift, and Baleno) securing the top spots in terms of sales. The WagonR and Swift saw healthy YoY growth (23.04% and 19.45%, respectively), maintaining their popularity.
- Tata Nexon (with 22.66% growth) and Tata Punch (with 39.47% growth) experienced substantial YoY growth, indicating a positive trend for Tata Motors. These models have gained traction in the market, reflecting the success of Tata's recent offerings.
- While Baleno from Maruti Nexa saw a slight decline in sales (−3.24%), the Grand Vitara showed strong YoY growth. The performance of Fronx is notable, securing a significant position in the top 20 despite not having a comparison from the previous year as it was launched earlier this year.
- Models like Brezza, Scorpio N + Classic, Creta, Seltos, Venue, and XUV700 all experienced positive YoY growth. This trend suggests that SUVs continue to be popular among consumers.
- Mahindra's Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic, Bolero/Bolero Neo, and XUV700 all demonstrated strong YoY growth, showcasing the success of Mahindra's SUV lineup.
- Toyota's Innova Crysta/HyCross showed a remarkable YoY growth of 118.86%, positioning it as the top-gaining model in October 2023.
- Hyundai's Creta and Venue secured positions in the top 20, with both models experiencing positive YoY growth. The introduction of the Exter also contributed to Hyundai's growth.
- The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 faced a significant YoY decline of −47.32%, suggesting challenges for this particular model in the market.

Oct 2023 - 20 Top-Selling Cars MoM Change
- Top Gainers:
- Maruti Suzuki Alto K10: The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 showed a significant MoM growth of 43.76%, indicating increased demand for this model in October 2023.
- Maruti Suzuki Swift: The Maruti Suzuki Swift had a robust MoM growth of 40.09%, suggesting sustained popularity and strong consumer interest.
- Maruti Suzuki WagonR: The Maruti Suzuki WagonR saw a substantial MoM increase of 35.88%, maintaining its position as one of the top-selling cars.
- Tata Punch: The Tata Punch recorded a notable MoM growth of 17.5%, indicating positive consumer response to this model.
- Kia Seltos: The Kia Seltos experienced a significant MoM increase of 17.09%, showcasing continued demand for this SUV.
- Maruti Suzuki Eeco: The Maruti Suzuki Eeco had a strong MoM growth of 16.4%, indicating sustained popularity in the market.
- Top Losers:
- Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara: The Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara faced a MoM decline of -7.69%, suggesting a decrease in sales compared to the previous month.
- Hyundai Venue: The Hyundai Venue experienced a MoM decrease of -5.1%, indicating some fluctuations in demand for this model.
- Hyundai Exter: The Hyundai Exter saw a MoM decline of -6.36%, suggesting a decrease in sales compared to the previous month.
