Everything About MG Windsor Inspire Edition; Honeymoon Period Is Over | V3Cars
We have recently secured information about the upcoming MG Windsor Inspire Edition. Here’s everything there is to know about this upcoming special edition of the Windsor. But first, let’s try and understand why the Windsor Inspire Edition even came into existence.

Why Is Windsor Inspire Edition?
Here are 3 reasons why we believe the Windsor is getting the Inspire Edition.
1. Windsor’s Honeymoon Period Is Over
The reason for why MG would devote enough resources to create the Windsor Inspire Edition are the same as they are for any other car manufacturer in India. When a new car goes on sale, there’s enough hype to help them get good demand, which may even tip the scales in its favour. If the demand side of the equation is too heavy, then they see no reason to create any further excitement or hype around the product. Once the honeymoon period is over, and demand falls much below supply, the manufacturers need to create some hype once again. This is where special editions come into the picture.
This is why many cars keep getting some or the other special edition from time to time. While some high demand cars, such as Eeco, Ertiga, WagonR don’t get many special editions during their lifecycle.
2. GST Rate Cuts Ignore EVs
In the recent GST rate revision, the government completely ignored electric cars but cut taxes significantly on petrol and diesel cars. Especially smaller cars and much larger cars got considerable price cuts because of the tax cuts.
Thus, with the new GST slabs, it becomes even more difficult for buyers to justify upgrading to an electric car as the cost to breakeven is now much higher than before.
3. YoY Growth To Hit A Wall
MG brought the Windsor to market in September 2024 but commenced bulk deliveries only in October 2024. Therefore, they have had smooth sailing so far with respect to YoY vehicle dispatches. Since the Windsor managed to become a consistent performer in MG’s portfolio, it’s like their fortunes changed overnight. However, the time to brag is now over.
Earlier, they were regularly recording huge YoY gains every month. This is because, in the same month a year ago they didn’t have the Windsor in their portfolio. October 2024 is when the Windsor wholesale figures started to help MG build up a reputation for upward trajectory. However, the October 2025 sales figure for MG India as well as Windsor will end up flat or lower compared to the October 2024 figures, which were quite high.
Thus, the insanely high YoY figures will start to hit a wall. They may even start to show significant YoY decline as new GST slabs have left electric vehicles to fend for themselves with very little government support. The addition of a special edition should help them boost the Windsor sales a bit.
Exterior Design Changes Of MG Windsor Inspire Edition
The Windsor Inspire Edition comes in white exterior colour. On the outside, the Windsor Inspire Edition gets the following extras:
- Contrast black outside mirrors
- Black A pillars
- Full black roof (including side beams, which are otherwise body coloured)
- Black hood/bonnet
- Front & rear bumper corner protector with rose gold accents
- Front bumper black garnish with rose gold MORRIS GARAGES branding
- Black painted alloy wheels (same size, 18-inch)
- Door side cladding with rose gold accents
- Inspire Edition badge on both side C pillars in rose gold
Interior Design Changes Of MG Windsor Inspire Edition
Inside, the MG Windsor Inspire Edition gets the following extra features:
- Red leather upholstery
- Embroidered Inspire branding on the front seat headrests
- Inspire branding cushions
- Retractable rear window sun shades (as dealer installed accessory)
- New design mats
- Leather key cover
- Front dashcam 4k resolution
Among optional features, Inspire Edition gets the following as dealer level accessory for an additional cost:
- Front illuminated door sill plates
- Some kind of optical fiber attached to the glass roof to illuminate with ambient lighting. This is similar to what we first saw with Mahindra’s new electric cars.
MG Windsor Inspire Edition Price
The Windsor Inspire Edition only comes with the small battery top variant; that is Essence variant with 37.9kWh battery pack. Pro variants or the lower two trims are not getting the Inspire treatment.
Excluding any optional extras, we see that the Inspire edition is offering roughly 40-45k worth of perceived value. The regular Essence 37.9kWh carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 16.30 lakh. The Inspire Edition carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 16.65 lakh. Do note that some of the features are dealer level optional accessories. So, you won’t get the flashy glass roof at this price. This feature is likely to cost a lot more.
