In this January 2023 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all B2-segment hatchbacks in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all B2-segment hatchbacks for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.
B2-Segment Hatchback January 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- The Maruti Baleno was the only B2-segment hatchback with 5-figure sales numbers in January YoY comparison.
- Toyota Glanza hatchback saw a YoY gain of 147% and was the highest gainer in the B2-segment hatchback category.
- The Baleno was the next best gainer in the category with a 141% YoY growth in January 2023
- I20 and Altroz saw a similar YoY growth of 25% in the category.
- Tata Altroz and Honda Jazz saw a decline in the YoY comparison. Jazz saw a massive 100% decline in dispatches owing to no updates in a long time from Honda and launch of several options in the same price bracket in the past year.
- Volkswagen Polo has been discontinued.

B2-Segment Hatchback January 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- In terms of MoM sales figures, the i20 was the top gainer, with a 74% gain in sales figures
- I20 was followed by the Altroz with around 40% MoM increase in dispatches
- Glanza was the top loser with 25.5% MoM decline in dispatches in January over December
- Glanza was followed by Baleno with 3.4% MoM decline
