Lexus, the luxury car division of Toyota is all set to unveil the Lexus ES 300h at the upcoming 2018 Beijing Motor Show on 25th April 2018. The facelift version of the India-bound luxury sedan that has already been spied several times will replace the current model that is on sale in many international markets, including India. In terms of facelift, the upcoming Lexus ES 300h gets styling tweaks and more safety features as the details has already been leaked on the internet ahead of making its world debut.
According to the leaked image, gives the glimpse of the front bumper confirming multiple styling changes that will come on the refreshed model. In terms of styling the upcoming Lexus ES 300h looks like the recently unveiled Lexus LS full-size sedan. Though on the LS, the LED Daytime Running Light “swoosh” is less embedded into the light cluster than it is on the ES, however there is less separation between the two, making the entire unit look a little bulkier than it does on the LS.
Riding on Toyota’s TNGA platform that also underpins the Camry and several other Toyota models, the 2019 Lexus ES 300h gets mildly tweaked headlamps, with new LED inserts along with Lexus’ trademark ‘Spindle Grille’ that is now more sharp and now gets vertical slats instead of horizontal ones on the outgoing car. Chrome around the fog lamps on the slightly tweaked bumper is another highlight of the luxurious ES 300h sedan. Other updates come in the form of safety features including pre-collision warning and steer assist.
Mechanically, the 2019 Lexus ES 300h doesn’t get any change and will continue to come with the same 2.5 litre four cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor providing a combined output of 202 Bhp and 213 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed CVT.
Talking about the luxury sedan making its way to the Indian market, there is no official confirmation by the automaker in terms of India launch of the Lexus ES 300h. The Japanese luxury carmaker recently commemorated its first year of sales in India with the commencement of deliveries of the new NX 300h SUV in the country and now we can expect that Lexus might introduce the 2019 facelifted sedan in the country in the future. Being a CBU the sedan is priced slightly higher at Rs 55.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and looking at the increased cess in the country, Lexus has been evaluating local assembly to help bring down its pricing and it will take some time to reach to any conclusion. When launched in the country, the 2019 Lexus ES 300h will take against the likes of the Mercedes Benz E-class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF in India.
