The Mahindra XUV400 has received its first-ever special edition, just a few weeks after it was launched. Mahindra have showcased the XUV400 Formula Edition to celebrate the first-ever Formula E race to be held in India at Hyderabad this Sunday. Formula E, which is currently in its 9th season, is a motorsport event comprising open-wheeled electric single-seaters. Mahindra have been a part of the ABB FIA Formula E ever since its inception in 2014.

The XUV400 Formula Edition comes with a special livery that Mahindra say is inspired by the racing spirit. The XUV400 Formula Edition was showcased alongside Mahindra’s Gen 3 Formula E race car, the M9Electro, in the presence of Mahindra’s Formula E drivers Lucas Di Grassi, Jehan Daruvala (reserve) and Oliver Rowland.

The XUV400 Formula Edition’s livery was designed by Mahindra’s Formula E team in association with Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE). Up front, the special edition version of the XUV400 gets an enclosed grille with copper accents. The front bumper features more copper bits while the bonnet gets a copper decal with ‘mahindra’ written across the width. The copper decal extends into the roof, which features a sunroof and roof rails. At the side, it gets a ‘mahindra’ sticker on the front doors followed by a thick copper decal that extends from the C-pillar to the bottom of the car, while the rear is finished in red. The alloy wheels get a few copper accents as well to complete the look.

The Mahindra XUV400 EV is a C-segment electric SUV that comes with a single electric motor, which offers a peak power of 150PS and a peak torque of 310Nm. XUV400 EV comes with 2 options for the battery pack — 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh. The 34.5kWh battery pack gives XUV400 EV a range of 375km while the 39.4kWh battery pack promises a range of 456km.
