Mercedes-Benz Deliver A Customised Maybach GLS — From Tuscaloosa, USA To Vadodara | V3Cars

Mercedes-Benz celebrate a unique friendship with the delivery of a heavily customised Maybach GLS. Customised by Prof Dr. Bharat Balasubramanian in Mercedes-Benz’ Tuscaloosa manufacturing plant, the German carmaker shipped the GLS from the USA to Vadodara and delivered it to Bharat's friend, Amit Garodia.

Prof Dr. Bharat Balasubramanian was a former board member of Mercedes-Benz India and even been the former vice president of Daimler group research and advanced engineering. Dr. Bharat personally visited and documented the production and customisation of the Maybach GLS at the Tuscaloosa manufacturing plant in the USA.

- E-active body control

- Burmester 3D sound system

- MBUX rear seat entertainment

Commenting on the delivery, Martin Schwenk, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, stated, “It is a matter of great privilege for me to personally deliver this very special GLS Maybach to our valued customer. The making of this particular vehicle marks the spirits of friendship, unmatched enthusiasm, and excitement of two friends, the passion for excellence, and an endearment for brand Mercedes-Benz. This indeed is a rare and highly inspiring story of celebrating decades of friendship between two IIT-Bombay classmates, and we at the Mercedes-Benz family are extremely proud to be part of this story.”

Mercedes-Benz shared that only a few Maybach GLS SUVs are handcrafted every year. The Maybach GLS 600 comes with a 4.0L twin-turbo petrol V8. It produces 577PS of power between 6000rpm and 6500rpm and 730Nm of torque between 2500rpm and 4500rpm. The engine channels power to all 4 wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Maybach GLS also gets a Maybach mode that dials all the settings to absolute comfort.
