Next-gen Hyundai Verna Spied On Test | V3Cars

Multiple spy shots of a Hyundai sedan undergoing tests have emerged online, suggesting Hyundai are working on an all-new Verna for global markets. The all-new Verna is expected to launch in 2023 and the latest spy shots suggest that it will grow in size. The latest spy shots, captured in South Korea reveal some key details about Hyundai’s C-segment sedan.

Next-gen Hyundai Verna

Although the Hyundai Verna test car is covered in fabric with faux body panels, we can make out that it will be bigger than the current Verna, which was launched in 2017. The images also reveal a low-slung bonnet and split headlamps. The chrome garnishing below the window line is similar to that of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The rear features a steeply raked silhouette, just like the current Verna.

While the current-gen Verna received a facelift in 2020, it is starting to show its age already, especially with the competition launching bigger sedans with modern styling and features. The new Verna should allow Hyundai to catch up to their rivals while offering more space than before thanks to its bigger dimensions.

We are yet to catch a glimpse of the new Verna’s interiors. However, we expect the new-gen Verna to come loaded with features, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, electric sunroof, 6 airbags, Bluelink connectivity, and air purifier. The biggest change, however, will be the space on the inside. With the new generation, we expect Hyundai to increase the wheelbase and width to offer better space on the inside.

Verna

On the powertrain front, the Verna is likely to retain the 1.5L normal petrol, 1.5L turbo diesel and 1.0L turbo petrol engines. The 1.5L normal petrol of the Verna produces 115PS of power at 6300rpm and 144NM at 4500rpm. The 1.5L diesel engine produces 115PS of power at 4000rpm and 250NM of torque between 1500rpm - 2750rpm. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine produces 120PS of power at 6000rpm and 172NM of torque between 1500rpm - 4000rpm. Hyundai offer the Verna with four transmission options — CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission), 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
