Nissan Magnite Hits 2 Lakh Production Milestone | V3Cars

Nissan Magnite recently achieved the 2 lakh production milestone in India. This figure includes domestic as well as international sales in export markets. It’s worth noting that the Magnite is only produced in India for left steering as well as right steering markets. The Magnite was first introduced in the peak of covid. The concept was revealed around mid 2020 while production started in November 2020. The car went on sale first in the Indian market in December of 2020 followed by international markets starting with Indonesia.

Nissan Magnite Achieves 2 Lakh Production Milestone

The timely introduction of the Magnite helped Nissan India survive the onslaught of SUVs from Tata and other carmakers in the similar price band. It also capitalized on the growing demand for SUVs across all price bands and segments.

Covid created fresh opportunities out of thin air as the world frequently came to a standstill and governments were forced to ease monetary policy. This easy access to money created an oversupply of disposable income among most citizens, which led to splurging in almost all categories. And SUVs were one of those categories, where people preferred larger vehicles even though they aren’t much efficient. The Magnite managed to swim with the tide and immensely helped Nissan pull through the tough times, which followed in 2024 and 2025 with tightening monetary policies.

To maintain strong demand for the Magnite, Nissan recently introduced a CNG option, which comes at a cost of just Rs. 75,000 including the cost of registration and insurance. Thus, it delivers outstanding value compared to rivals, which typically carry a premium of Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1.10 lakh for the CNG bi-fuel option and bring cascading taxes on top of that.

While some news outlets report of cash crunch with Nissan India and their global operations, the MD of their India operations, Saurabh Vatsa, has categorically flushed them out as rumours. In a recent interaction with the media representatives, Mr. Vatsa confirmed that the subsequent vehicle launch plans are on track with 3 new vehicles in the pipeline for the Indian market. According to Nissan, they are fully committed to the Indian market and anticipate a spike in domestic production with a target figure of 2 lakh vehicles in FY 2026-27. Half of that is expected from the domestic market while they anticipate export markets to drive the demand for another 1 lakh vehicles in the said financial year.

Here’s what Nissan MD, Mr. Vatsa has to say about the most recent achievement of 2 lakh production milestone of the Magnite:

The New Nissan Magnite continues to capture the imagination of customers around the world with its dynamic design, superior quality, value, and innovative features.
