Hatchbacks Segment October 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Maruti Suzuki may not have a strong grip in the sedan segment, but they have the hatchback segment under their command.
- In terms of sales, the B-segment hatchback is the best-selling body-type in the Indian market.
- Alto pair landed the top spot with over 21,000 dispatches in the month of October.
- The Maruti Ignis was the best performing hatchback in October 2022 YoY comparison, with over a 211% rise in dispatches as compared to October 2021.
- Celerio was the second best performing car in the category, with over 115% YoY gains in October 2022.
- Honda Jazz was the biggest loser, with a 74% decline in sales. The Renault Kwid was the second biggest loser with a 30.44% decline in dispatches in YoY comparison for October, followed by the Maruti S-Presso with a 17.24% decline.
- Apart from the discontinuation of the Santro recently, the Mahindra KUV100, Datsun Redi-GO, Volkswagen Polo and Datsun GO were also discontinued over the past year.
Hatchback Segment October 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- The Maruti Swift was the top MoM gainer in October with 44% growth in production numbers. The Alto twins were the top gainer in September analysis.
- The Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza were the second best top gainers in MoM comparison, with a 7% growth.
- Among the notable MoM losers were the Jazz, S-Presso and Ignis, with their dispatches declining 68%, 22% and 17.5%, respectively.
