Pininfarina developing a $2 million electric hypercar
Hypercars are the ultimate dreams of the car enthusiasts. Nevertheless, for most, the hypercars remain to be just dreams, as only a handful of people in the world with very deep pockets can afford to possess an astoundingly expensive hypercar. However, hypercars are also eye-candies that the auto lovers love to drool at, and the auto majors love to flaunt. Hypercars are the epitome of exaggerated aggressive style, amazing technology and mindboggling speed. These are also the ultimate vehicles that showcase a manufacturer’s designing and car building capabilities. Moreover, hypercars come up with ever cutting-edge technology and automotive advancements, which eventually get passed on to the other vehicles that more people can actually afford. Thus, hypercars are hyper-important in the automotive world.
Celebrated Italian auto design firm Pininfarina, which is famed for designing the iconic Ferrari design, is now trying its hand at a hypercar. Pininfarina had announced in March this year that the company is developing its first all-electric hypercar model - PFO, while not divulging any actual details about the vehicle. However recently, Pininfarina has revealed more details on its PFO hypercar, which is definitely going to be a marvel and worth the fancy of multi-billionaire clients.
According to Michael Perschke, the Chief Executive officer of Automobili Pininfarina CEO, the upcoming PFO hypercar will be able to reach the speed of 60 miles per hour from a standstill position in less than two seconds, while it will have the insane top speed of 250 miles per hour. As it is an all-electric vehicle, so travel range does matter. As per Perschke, the PFO will offer an amazing range of over 300 miles on a fully charged battery pack.
Right, the PFO doesn’t sound anything like an EV in terms of speed or range, but as it is already said, hypercars are all about pushing the boundaries of the advancement levels of the automotive industry, the PFO seems to be just a perfect example of a hypercar to look forward to.
Now, for another important question that arises when EVs are concerned, how long does it take to charge? Well, the PFO is not expected to take more than 15 minutes to charge the battery pack up to 80 percent of its total capacity.;
One of the primary focuses of the PFO is of course sustainability in keeping with the requirements of the future automotive industry. Thus, the upcoming PFO hypercar will be using only ethically sourced natural woods as well as chemical free paint.
Pininfarina is planning to showcase the PFO to some exclusive VIP guests at 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which will be held in August. Apart from the handful of important guests, the rest of the world will have to wait to get a glimpse at this special car until the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March, where it will be officially unveiled.
When it comes to pricing, well, it has been already mentioned that such a car is meant only for a chosen few with extremely deep pockets. The Pininfarina PFO hypercar is expected to come with a humongous price tag that can range around $2 million - $2.5 million. However, the rich and the famous would be happy to own such as exclusive vehicle with its peerless levels of craftsmanship and performance.;
