It has been already reported that Renault India has confirmed the launch of the Captur by the end of 2017. The Renault Captur is a long awaited model in India, as the French car maker has been testing the SUV in this country for quite some time now, and the model has been spied several times. Renault has really gained huge recognition in India in a very short span of time. It gained great success and popularity with its Duster compact SUV and then received massive response for its Kwid entry-level hatchback model that continues to be one of the fastest selling cars in India. The French automaker is now hopping to tap on the more premium compact SUV segment of India. The entire SUV segment of India is on fire, and the compact and subcompact SUVs are especially highly profitable prospects for the car makers. The highly aggressively styled Captur is expected to be yet another great success for Renault.
Check out all the important facts about the upcoming India-bound Renault Captur:
The India-spec model of the SUV is going to be called the Captur which is what it is called in Europe. However, as is already known we are not going get the European version, but the model that is sold in Russia and Latin America, where it is known as the Kaptur with a ‘K’. While the Kaptur and the Captur look the same, they are different on the inside and based on different platforms. The Kaptur is meant for the developing car markets and is based on the Duster’s platform, while the European Captur is is based on the Clio’s platform. The India-spec Captur (Kaptur) will have a high localization level, which will result in competitive pricing.
The India-bound Captur is also likely to share its powertrains with the Duster, meaning the same 1.5 litre and 1.5 litre K9K mills. As the Captur will be a more premium model, we expect the mills to be tuned to offer better power figures. As per some sources, the Renault Captur will initially launch in India with only a standard manual transmission, while an automatic and AWD option would come later.
The Renault Captur is a premium compact SUV model that will be placed above the Duster. In India it will rival the Hyundai Creta and the recently launched Jeep Compass. Apart from contemporary aggressive exterior design, the India-spec Captur is also likely to be loaded with goodies on the inside to help it fight with its tough rivals.
The Renault Captur premium compact SUV is expected to come with a price range of around Rs. 11 lakhs to Rs. 16 lakhs. Nothing has been confirmed yet and Renault will only announce the vehicle’s pricing during its official launch.
The Renault Captur with its alluring stylish design language and expected feature-rich interior will be braced well to get high response in the Indian car market. If Renault manages to price it aggressively, then the French company would have another winner in its Indian portfolio.
