Last week, Tata Motors unveiled the Curvv Concept SUV as a preview to its upcoming all electric SUV. Tata stated that the Curvv Concept sits on a heavily-modified version of the Nexon’s platform. The carmaker also said that the production version of the Curvv Concept will initially be sold as an EV, before adding variants powered by internal combustion (ICE) engine options.

The Tata Curvv Concept EV’s dimensions are bigger than the Nexon but smaller than the Harrier. Hence, it neatly slots in between the two SUVs in Tata’s range. This makes the Curvv Concept’s platform the ideal choice for a future SUV to take on the best-selling Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Currently, Tata Motors do not have any direct rival to take on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Setlos. The Nexon competes with the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet whereas the Harrier sits above the Creta and Seltos.

It remains to be seen whether Tata Motors choose a conventional design for this SUV or use the ICE-powered version of the Curvv concept to compete against the South Korean SUVs. Tata Motors has stated that it won’t offer any hybrid powertrain in the near future. Hence, we can only expect internal-combustion vehicles and fully-electric vehicles from the manufacturer for the next few years.

Tata Motors aim to launch the Curvv EV by 2024. The Curvv EV will later be offered with internal-combustion engine options as well. However, the timeline for the same hasn’t been revealed yet.
