Tata Motors has launched the special ‘Premio’ edition Zest in the country. The special edition Zest Premio has been launched to celebrate the success in sales of the Zest in the market. The Zest Premio edition gets thirteen additional features over the standard Tata Zest and is available only with diesel engine priced at Rs 7.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The newly launched special edition sits below the XT variant, priced at Rs 7.88 lakh and above the XMS variant, priced at Rs 7.28 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). According to the automaker, more than 85,000 Zests have been sold since its launch in the country in August 2014.
Speaking at the launch of the special edition Zest, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, "We are extremely delighted to introduce the special edition of ZEST with a fresh and energetic look and are confident that this will attract our customers for its value proposition. Talking about the additional features, the newly launched Zest Premio gets dual tone roof in glossy black, piano black hued outside mirrors on the exterior, and a chic tan finished mid pad on the dashboard in the interior. Two exterior colours - Titanium Grey and Platinum Silver have also been offered with the special edition Tata Zest. Apart from these, smoked multi-reflector headlamps and a piano black hood strip has been offered at the front to accompany the dual tone bumper while the rear features a piano black boot lid garnish and a special edition badge. Wheels of the special edition Zest are embellished with proud silver wheel covers as well as new premium seat fabric with contrast stitching and Premio branding. However, Tata Motors is also offering an option to buy a piano black spoiler as an accessory with the Zest Premio edition. The car also gets the ConnectNext touchscreen infotainment system by Harman which comes with phone-based app support including Navigation.
Mechanically, the newly launched special edition Tata Zest comes powered by the same 1.3-litre, 4 cylinder diesel engine capable of producing 74 bhp of maximum power and 190 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The standard safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and cornering stability control (CSC).
The standard Tata Zest is offered in six variants - XE, XM, XMA, XMS, XT and XTA and gets two engine options which include a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel motor. The sedan competes with the likes of Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Volkswagen Ameo.
