The next- gen of the flagship SUV Santa Fe by Hyundai has been teased officially for the first time before its global unveil due later this year at the 2018 Geneva Auto Show in March this year. Launched originally in 2000, the first generation Santa Fe was Hyundai's first ever SUV and has done well in markets like Europe and North America for the South Korean automaker. In India, the third gen of Hyundai Santa Fe was launched in 2013 and received a mild facelift internationally in late 2016.
According to the teased image, the upcoming Hyundai Santa Fe highlight a sleeker silhouette compared to the outgoing model. While the headlights and the taillights have been revised with a sleeker profile, and the window line too has been updated. The wheel arches have also been made more prominent with additional cladding new roof rails with roof integrated spoiler will also be on offer with the fourth generation of the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. We can also expect the SUV to get the 'cascading grille' that all new Hyundai cars feature while other features might include muscular and slightly squared off wheel arches both for the front and rear fenders, a very distinct waistline and shoulder line and the distinctive twin exhaust tips.
Going through the claims of Hyundai, the new-gen Santa Fe will come equipped with industry-first rear occupant alert that monitors the rear seats to detect passengers and alerts the driver when leaving the car. Along with this, the SUV will also come with rear cross-traffic collision warning that is now equipped with an automated braking function. Also, the system will also warn the driver and will apply the brakes automatically to avoid the risk of collision when reversing out of narrow areas with limited visibility.
In terms of powertrain, the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to come with a range of petrol and diesel engines, globally, along with five- and seven-seat configurations. However, there have been no reports regarding the India launch of the SUV but it will be too early to say anything till the automaker announces it officially. If launched in India, the fourth-gen Santa Fe will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour, the Jeep Compass and the Skoda Kodiaq.
