Toyota Hilux - Bookings Temporarily Closed | V3Cars

Toyota have announced that it has temporarily stopped accepting bookings for the Hilux. Toyota have cited huge demand along with supply chain issues as the reason behind this decision. The Japanese carmaker had begun accepting orders for the 2022 Hilux on January 20 for an amount of Rs. 1 lakh. The company said they aim to reopen bookings as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Toyota have announced they will reveal the prices of the Hilux in March. Customers who have booked the Hilux can expect deliveries to start the same month as well.

Toyota Hilux

The Toyota Hilux is the pickup truck version of the Fortuner. While Toyota offers several versions of the Hilux in international markets, the Indian market will only get the double cab version. That means it will have 4 doors plus a tailgate and 2 rows of seats. The single cab version sold abroad is typically offered as a commercial vehicle. Toyota will offer the Hilux in two variants – Low and High.

The Hilux will get a 2.8L diesel engine with a 6-speed manual or torque converter automatic transmission. The engine will produce 204PS of power and 420Nm of torque. The torque output increases to 500Nm with the automatic transmission. The same powertrain is also offered in the Fortuner.

While we will get the option of a manual transmission in both variants, Toyota will offer the automatic transmission only in the top variant. The 4-wheel-drive system is standard, so the off-road capability should not vary between variants. However, the increased torque with automatic transmission could help tackle tricky situations.

On the features front, the Hilux offers the following:

  • LED headlights
  • LED DRLs
  • LED fog lamps
  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Multi-drive modes
  • Tilt and telescopic steering
  • Cruise control
  • Auto-dimming inside rearview mirror
  • 8-way electrically-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Second-row AC vents
  • 7 airbags
  • Traction control
  • Electronic differential lock
  • Limited slip differential

We expect the prices of Hilux to start from Rs. 28 lakh and go up to Rs. 32 lakh. It will rival the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. However, it is to be noted that Hilux is a superior product, with bigger dimensions and a more powerful powertrain than the V-Cross.
