Toyota Hyryder eDrive Capable Of Holding Different Battery Sizes | V3Cars

Toyota recently unveiled the Hyryder hybrid SUV ahead of its launch in August. The Hyryder’s eDrive powertrain is manufacturer at the newly-set up electrified component manufacturing facility in Bidadi, Karnataka. The new eDrive plant is Toyota’s fourth manufacturing plant in the world.

When we spoke to Toyota officials, they revealed that the eDrive powertrain can accept larger batteries if needed. Hence, the eDrive platform could be utilised in the near future for stronger hybrid powertrains and even full-electric vehicles. Toyota also revealed that they will manufacture the eDrive system here in India and export it to different global markets, including Japan, in the near future.

Toyota developed the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in collaboration with Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki will soon reveal their version of the Hyryder Hybrid with the same set of engines and transmission options. Thanks to its mild-hybrid and strong hybrid powertrains, Toyota claim the Urban Cruiser Hyryder offers class-leading fuel efficiency.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes with features like a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charger, front ventilated seats, 360-degree parking camera, head-up display and a digital instrument cluster.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will rival other C-segment SUVs, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor. We expect Toyota to price the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in the range of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh ex-showroom.
