Volvo XC40 Petrol Mild Hybrid SUV Discontinued – Only Electric Powertrain Available Now | V3Cars

Volvo Cars India launched the XC40 facelift in India in October 2022. A year on, the carmaker has discontinued the XC40 petrol mild hybrid. The XC40 is now only available with an electric powertrain in the form of the XC40 Recharge now. Read on to know more.

Volvo XC40 Petrol Mild Hybrid Discontinued

The Volvo XC40 facelift was launched in India with a 2-litre petrol engine mated to a 48V mild hybrid system in October 2022. The XC40 facelift was not offered with a diesel engine in India. It was launched at a introductory price of Rs. 43.20 lakh for last year’s festive season. The last recorded price of the Volvo XC40, which was sold in a single variant, was Rs. 46.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2.0-litre mild hybrid petrol engine of the XC40 produced 200PS of power and 300Nm of torque and it was offered with a single transmission option – an 8-speed torque converter. The claimed fuel efficiency of the XC40 petrol mild hybrid was 14.49kmpl.

Buyers interested in the Volvo XC40 can now only get an electric powertrain in the form of the XC40 Recharge, which is priced at Rs. 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Those looking for a bit more flair than the standard SUV can opt for the C40 Recharge, which commands a price of Rs. 62.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge offer dual electric motors mated to a 78kWh battery pack. Both SUVs produces 414PS of power and 660Nm of torque. The XC40 Rechagre offers a  claimed range of 418km on a single charge while the C40 Recharge offers 530km on a single charge. Volvo claims both SUVs can be charged from 0-80 percent in around 28 minutes using a 200kW DC fast charger. Both electric SUVs compete with the likes of the Kia EV6 in terms of price.
