Volvo Car India Begin Deliveries Of XC40 Recharge | V3Cars

Volvo India have commenced deliveries of the locally-assembled XC40 Recharge. The first unit of the XC40 Recharge was recently delivered to a customer in Gujarat and the Swedish carmaker plans to deliver 100 XC40 Recharge electric SUVs by the end of 2022.

Volvo Car India received 150 orders for the XC40 Recharge within a few hours of opening bookings. The carmaker currently has 500 orders for the XC40 Recharge and 100 of them will be delivered before the end of the year. The rest of the orders will be delivered next year.

Mr. Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, stated, “It is indeed a milestone for all of us at Volvo to have the first of the India assembled pure electric XC40 Recharge luxury SUV delivered.  This delivery is historic as this not only marks the beginning of our journey towards becoming an all-electric car company by 2030 but also will be the first car which is being delivered under our ambitious Online Direct Sales model. The response to the XC40 Recharge has been really encouraging with 150 car orders received online within 2 hours of opening bookings. I am delighted to announce that we already have close to 500 advance orders with us, and we will be delivering around 100 of them before the year-end. Rest of the customers will get their cars during the next year.”

The Volvo XC40 Recharge comes with a 78kWh battery pack with 2 electric motors. Both electric motors offer a power and torque output of 408PS and 660Nm, respectively. The XC40 Recharge comes with a range of 418km on a single charge and we expect its real-world range to be around 300km. It can do 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge comes at a price of Rs. 55.90 lakh ex-showroom. It is cheaper than the Kia EV6 GT Line (Rs. 64.95 lakh), which is sold via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. The XC40 Recharge rivals other electric cars like the Mini Cooper SE, BMW i4 as well as the upcoming Ioniq 5 and Mercedes-Benz EQB.
